Loved this book about a romance in the setting of the Spanish American war. The characters really came to life. A great read!

An exciting story that begins in 1898 in Wyoming and proceeds to Texas and then Cuba during the War for Cuba's independence. Teddy Roosevelt's Rough Riders are featured and I learned much more than I ever learned in 8th grade history! What a fun way to learn! Merline Lovelace does a great job blending fact with fiction in this steamy romance.

Fans of sheer history will find this a winning book, as well as romance lovers. Victoria is an ideal representative of the time of women beginning to become more independent, while Sam is an honorable and dignified hero, whose calm exterior conceals a seethingly passionate man.
