Stupid title and ugly cover on a wonderful, emotionally true book. Elizabeth Fairchild is one of many terrific authors in the Signet Regency Romance stable of authors -- others who wrote Signet Regencies and went on to larger fame include Mary Balogh, Joan Wolf, Jo Beverly, Dorothy Mack, Marion Chesney.

back cover:
Captain Alexander Shelbourne was known as Cupid to his friends for his uncanny marksmanship in battle. But when he accompanied a fellow soldier home and met the lovely Penny Foster, he himself became a target - of scorn and gossip...
The fatherless child at Penny's side had tarnished her reputation - but for a soldier who had witnessed the worst of man's indignity to man, a chlid born out of wedlock mattered little when it came to love. No one knew that Penny's heart held a secret that could cost her the little girl she held dear. Mired in the guilt of war, Alexander found his one chance at redemption when he learned the truth of little Felicity's parentage. He would have to face his comrade in arms in a battle of the heart - if he wanted to save his last chance for love...
Review: Excellent. Highly recommended.

Too bad someone along the line didn't nix this horrible title before it became official. If that had happened then this book might be more well known and respected. It is the best traditional Regency by this author.
Fun read :)
