Interesting book, a nice mixture of sociology and geology. He really doesn't say much good about anyone in California, I probably wouldn't have moved to the Palm Springs area if I had read his book first (it was published 3 years before we did). On the other end of the fault, the town I grew up in and couldn't wait to leave, Ferndale, is a paradise, according to the author, go figure.
