Good second story in this story. Elvis is different than Owen and Hercules, but fun to read about. Look forward to number 3. Sarah and Elvis understand each other and there appears to be the possibility of a new love interest. More to follow I'm sure. Love the remake of old to new items. Reworking and giving a 2nd chance is interesting.

Buy a Whisker is the second installment of the A Second Chance Mystery series. I loved the first one in this series and couldn't wait to read this one - I wasn't disappointed. A quick moving storyline with likeable characters and a fun loving cat.
Sarah Grayson is the owner of Second Chance, a shop that sells refurbished and repurposed items, located in North Harbor, Maine. Investment group North by West has plans to buy out the waterfront buildings and redevelop the harbor area. This would be great for quite a few people including Liz, a great friend to Sarah and her grandmother, whose Emmerson Foundation holds the mortgage on two of the buildings now in foreclosure. The only thing standing in the way of the revitalization is baker Lily Carter who is refusing to sell her bakery.
When Sarah finds Lily's dead body at the bottom of the bakery stairs she knows that it wasn't just an accident. Unfortunately, Liz had a brief argument with Lily over the bakery sale and it was captured on security camera, making her a prime suspect.
Sarah, with the help of Charlotte's Angels (Charlotte, Rose, Liz and Mr. P)sets out to clear her friend's name. The investigation reveals that Lily was involved in a previous unsolved mystery that could be a key factor in her unwillingness to sell the bakery.
The author pens colorful descriptions of the various refurbishing projects that Sarah and her co-worker Mac are involved in, including the two apartment renovations for Rose and Mac. I love how she includes Avery, Liz's spunky young granddaughter in the design of the window display for Second Chance.
Of course, Sarah's little black cat, Elvis again plays a significant role in the storyline. For every animal lover that can relate to having conversations with their pets, Elvis will steal your heart and leave your meowing for more.
Unfortunately it looks like the author is going to create the dreaded love triangle between Sarah, Mac and Nick. Fingers crossed that this doesn't happen and hopefully the next in the series A Whisker of Trouble due out in 2016, resolves Sarah's mixed feelings for the two men.

Things have been quiet in the coastal town of North Harbor, Maine, since Sarah Grayson and her rescue cat, Elvis, solved their first murder. Sarah is happy running Second Chance, the shop where she sells lovingly refurbished and repurposed items. But then she gets dragged into a controversy over developing the waterfront. Most of the residents—including Sarahâare for it, but there is one holdoutâbaker Lily Carter.
So when Lily is found murdered in her bakery, it looks like somebody wanted to remove the only obstacle to the development. But Sarah soon discovers that nothing is as simple as it seems. Now, with the help of her cat's uncanny ability to detect a lie, Sarah is narrowing down the suspects. But can she collar the culprit before the ruthless killer pounces again?

Nice cozy book with a secondhand-store setting. The cat, even if he is a feline lie-detector, acts mostly like a cat and doesn't talk, or run around on his own solving mysteries. Large cast of characters and an appealing protagonist. A pleasant way to spend a couple hours.

Second book in the Second Chance Cat series. Good follow-up to the debut in this series. Sarah and her sidekick cat - Elvis, assist the "Angels" (a group of seniors who work at Sarah's second hand shop) who are out to find the killer of the owner of the local bakery, Lilly. Lilly was the sole holdout for a major building project in town. Cute cozy book with a possible love interest in the offing for Sarah and one of her employees.
