What a great little book this is! The buttons and the techniques used to make them are beautifully illustrated with instructions and drawings [some of the techniques are pure inspiration]. Chapters included are: knitted or crocheted buttons; beaded or embroidered buttons; wool or clay or wooden buttons; found-item buttons; thread, braid or cord buttons; fabric buttons; plastic and rubber buttons.
I am especially fond of the little crocheted buttons. The beaded buttons, especially the beaded toggles, are very sophisticated and unique.
The author also has a very good section on working with natural items like twigs and seashells (the seashells shown on the cover are just lovely). I think my favorite section is the one on creating fiber buttons -- the monkey fist, lace ball, and braided ribbon buttons all show you how to create genuinely unique and stunning buttons that add elegance to any garment and will have people asking, "where on earth did you find those buttons?" Excellent book.
