I didn't finish this:

Spoiler---the story is about an abusive mother, the story is told by a diary found in the cabinet, however, it goes back and forth between the years in the 1890's and the 1960's, there are too many characters brought in that you don't know what they have to do with the story so why waste the time to put it on paper, the story is hard to follow because of the back and forth, etc.

I wouldn't know what category to put this under, it is not suspenseful, not a mystery, not a thriller, maybe a horror, but to me it is just 'a story'---boring!

Pat W (3ladybug) - This is a good book, however, I found hard to follow at times. It jumps back and forth between the diary and the story of Charlott Ormand, the the orphan. The abuse of 4-year Charlotte by her step-mother is sad, but true. McGill's writing of this diary found is good. The Butterfly Cabinet has a part in the story. Read to find out the rest...
