Nancy Zieman had her own tv show a little while back, and I still sew. This book shows how to: make a jacket, fix sleeves correctly, sew waiste bands... It good.

I was surprised at how many tips and ideas I got out of this book. I have been sewing and quiltmaking for many, many, years now so when a friend gave me a load of sewing/quilting books that she no longer wanted, I looked at this and thought "What could be in here for me?" But as I turned the pages and saw the "Notes from Nancy," as well as columns of tips from sewers, I was a bit taken aback by all the simple tricks of the trade that I had never learned. So much for Miss Know-It-All! I read through the book and found it chock full of excellent advice, as well as simple things that can cut your production time way back, something we all strive for! I really like this slim paper back book! It could sit next to your sewing machine serving as a helpful guide in many ways. There is an index in the back, making all of your questions so easy to answer. There is also a page upon which to list your family's measurements, as well as a "sewing record" where you will record the items you've made, pattern number, and fabric yardage, etc. There is also a really good glossary in case you aren't quite familiar with all of the sewing terms used in the book, or on the pattern backs. I can wholeheartedly recommend this book for beginning sewers or old-timers like myself who just want to see what they may have missed somewhere along the way.
