this book may be my favorite of those times.this is not the easiest of reads with many characters with similar names.but if you like historical novels set in this era,if you like to read about the treatment of women in this era and last but not least the reading about tthe inquisition, this is a book for you. mixed in with it all is many pagan references, some obvious and others not so. but a very good read, IMHO.

Very light, fluffy story considering the subject is witch burnings. It's a fast, easy read. Not much historical "meat" to the book--the author didn't spend much time with historical descriptions and scene settings.

A fictional account of an abbess who must undergo inquisition by the Church. Addresses feminist issues of women in the church, as well as pagan themes of female mystical power.

Very well written.
Took me a little while to get into it, but by the time I was halfway through, I could not put it down.
a witch trial, the inquisition and the black plague complicate the lives of an abbess and a monk.
This book was way too long and confusing. I had read "I, Mona Lisa" and really liked it but this one just wasn't as compelling. I finished it but many times I put it down intending not to.
Love this author but had an awful time getting into this book.
I couldn't get into this book. I gave up reading it. The reviews on Amazon weren't good enough to make me try again.
interesting novel of mediaval times
