While I enjoy this series, I do prefer the MT series more. Maybe it's the 1st person and as a result the ability to get into the character's head more, I do like Mercy more as a character (and Adam over Anna/Charles). I do think this series is important too, there things that happen that also effect MT. This ties both worlds together and I have a ideas of what could happen in future books. Maybe.
Charles is in charge of the pack because Bran up and decided to go on a vacation. Turns out there is a traitor in the pack. We meet some of the Wildlings (and some are killed). The Wildlings are fragile and in poor control of their wolf sides.
There is witchcraft, a Skinwalker, and the mentioned traitor. I am interested in Wellesley- I think he is an interesting character and could have his own spin-off. Wellesley is a former slave and is also apparently descended from a magical family.
The suckiest part of this book occurred at the beginning. Charles and Anna had a conversation about Bran and Mercy. I will say it was icky (Mercy is someone that Bran raised and she looks at him as a father figure). Was that necessary? Nope. But, it was a short conversation and didn't last longer than a few pages. I'm going to pretend I didn't read that.
