Whenever I read an Edith Wharton story, I'm in awe of her writing ability and insight into her characters. This unique story is about two sisters who eke out a simple life and, through an accidental encounter, experience staggering changes.

This is a bittersweet story about life in New York City in the late 1800s. It deals with a subject that wasn't customarily discussed during those times. The changes in the sisters are essential in this story. I enjoyed this immensely.
