An appealing teen novel that treats the subject of magic (as in, "magick", not stage magic) with respect and a sense of adventure. The main character in this trilogy is a girl who not only has to deal with her unexpected introduction into the world of magic, but has to deal with the popular kids, being made fun of, family problems, and so on found in the everyday world. Girls from about 12 to 15 or 16 with an interest in fantasy would most likely enjoy this (and the other two in the trilogy as well.)
