Amazing book! I won't be re-listing this one b/c it's a book I will read over and over while raising my son and daughters. I highly recommend this book to anyone with a son or daughter or anyone who wants to better understand their husband or father. Even if you don't have any boys, this book is highly useful for raising daughters.

Excellent book. I would strongly recommend any parent, especially of younger boys, should read this. Dobson does a great job of presenting practical, helpful information in sort of a middle-of-the-road Christian approach. He is not as demanding and "harsh" as some, but he does not compromise on traditional Christian/American values and worldview. Follow his approach and you will equip your boys to become honorable men.

This is an excellent book for anyone who has boys in their life. It shows us the distinct differences between boys and girls and how society is trying to squelch the male gender and make boys be more like girls. This world needs strong male leaders which is counter coulter and is not P.C.

This is the only book authored by Dr.Dobson I've read, and plan to reread. I found his truth and humor to be refreshing. He has practical parenting advice that is applicable to raising children of either gender. However, having 2 boys in 10 grandchildren, the rest girls, I found I needed someone else who understood what I was experiencing. Reading Dr.Dobson's book about boys helped me to feel normal during the struggles I was experiencing raising them.

With many years of clinical experience, Dr. Dobson recognizes that our boys are under attack in this culture. ( Look at how men are portrayed in commercials even.) He has great words to encourage parents to protect and prepare boys to live successfully in this world - and the next! I have bought many copies to give to new parents and have taught the companion course - good stuff!

I read this book prior to getting it through PBS but not this copy yet. I wanted to own it as I thought it would be a good book to read every few years with some great tips and reminders as I -a mom - raise my boy through different stages.

Despite what the cover says, this book offers very little practical advice. There is no advice for day-to-day issues. And the only encouragement is for those that fit Dobson's model of the good family. We can't turn back time. I'd rather learn how to raise good children in today's culture, than continually bemoan the fact that life in the U.S. just isn't what it used to be.

Be aware that this is a conservative Christian based book. I didn't know and was surprised about Mr. Dobson's beliefs. This is not a straight ahead child rearing book.Almost every chapter I read made me want to throw this book against the wall. I firmly believe in the right to everyone's own opinion so I am offering it for trade (rather than the garbage). I am more than ready to pass this one on to anyone who wants it. 1/2 star for the cute picture on the cover.
