Katherine Center's debut novel is a charmer. It's a story about single motherhood, bad boyfriends, family and friendship and finding love unexpectedly. It brought back, vividly, those new mother feelings that I had and I related easily to Jenny's initial terror, the late night feedings and lack of sleep. Yes, some might consider this "mommy chick-lit", but it's more than that. And you don't have to be a mother to enjoy it. I had a great time reading this warm, sweet and funny novel and look forward to her new one to be published in February 2009.

This was the best book I have read in quite a long time. Quick, fun read. You'll fall in love with the main character and her family and neighbor!
This was a very enjoyable read - hearbreakingly funny and completely honest. The message of "life just isn't always what you want it to be, but things can work out for the better despite the obstacles" comes through loud and clear. The descriptions made me laugh out loud and never sugar coated the beginning stages of motherhood (which always drives me bonkers!). Definitely recommended!

In "The Bright Side of Disaster" is witty, touching and definitely a good affirmation for all the new moms out there who feel like the life that they once knew is slipping away.

A great read for all moms and moms to be. This is such a cute story that you'll never want it to end.
It was a quick read but got a little hard to believe towards the end. I did enjoy her humor, though.
LOVED IT! Could not put the book down........had it done in hour and fifteen mins. Good story, well written!
I've enjoyed the two more recent books I've read by this author so I went back to read her first book. Very good. Good character development even in this first book. The ending was easily figured out unlike the later books I read. Classic girl meets boy except girl already has a boy in the beginning and he leaves. The day before she delivers their baby. But then there is the new boy. And then old boy returns. Who will she choose? It is clear to the reader who she should choose because one of them is terrible and the other is great. Looks like she will make the wrong choice, but she ends up making the right choice. Easy reading.
I thought this was a very cute book. I really liked the way the author described Jenny's experiences as being a new mother. I don't have kids, but it felt like it was an honest portrayal of what being a new mom would feel like. It was predictible, and I knew how it was going to end. However, if you're looking for a fun, easy read then I would recommend this book.
Loved this book - it made me laugh!
