Author: Jen Lancaster
From Publishers Weekly — Lancaster (Bitter Is the New Black) is a plus-sized, downwardly mobile Republican. She makes fun of disabled people. She cracks nasty about Anna Nicole Smith (granted, she was still alive at the time). She annotates her text with footnotes cheering herself on. When she's feeling particularly mean, she writes in her own "p...  more »

Although it's a sequel to "Bitter is the New Black" I read this one first, and am glad I did so. It's the more approachable, for lack of a better term, of the two; you won't miss much of the couple's previous history, if that's a concern.

This book was a last minute addition to the tote bag for my trip to Scotland. I'm always afraid I will get stuck on an extremely long plane ride (and going to Scotland definitely counts as LONG) with crappy books. This book completely took that fear away. Let's just say that I nearly missed boarding my connecting flight in Newark, NJ because I was so engrossed in this book. I couldn't put it down. I loved the author's sarcastic wit and humor throughout the whole book.

I've never read this author before and I am so glad I found this one and will be hunting for all of her books.

I thought Bitter is the New Black (her first book) was better. This was a little harder for me to like, and seemed a bit more obnoxious.

I completely loved this book, just as much as Bitter. I found Jen to be as sharp and funny as ever, and the story was engaging - even without the struggle of being jobless that made her human in the first book. If you enjoy sarcasm and wit from an outspoken girlfriend, you will likely enjoy this memoir.

I loved this book. Jen Lancaster says things that everyone of us thinks and would like to say. Fantastic read

I was very disappointed with this book because I have read other books by Jen Lancaster and was looking forward to her humor. I felt this one was forced.

Absolutely loved this book! Could not stop myself from laughing out loud several times! Kind of like if Carl Hiassen or Tim Dorsey were a woman.

If you like sarcastic, witty humor you will love Jen Lancaster's books. She is always self-deprecating as she tells the story of her life in Chicago and how she goes from riches to rags (sort of) and how her husband Fletch just goes along for the ride. But be forewarned - if you like her humor she's like eating M&M's you can't stop at just one!
