This is a collection of six full-length-books about the six Chance brothers and the six ladies that just happen to meet them by chance and give them a once-in-a-lifetime chance at true happiness.

From the eldest brother, responsible Gideon, to grouchy Daniel, to smitten Titus, and to the calculating Paul, to quiet Bryce, and finally mischievous Logan - they all made such a combination of great stories that I was eager to see what kind of woman it would take to tame them into marriage. Then there were those "Chance brothers votes" for who would solve "should this woman go back where she came from or should she stay and help out?". Somehow the younger ones always managed to outnumber the older ones. Much later when wives, Miriam and Alisa, got it into their heads that the women should vote too it was a plain disaster, and I loved it all.

Out of all six stories, though, I was most impressed by Daniel's story about the grief he went through after his first wife died in child birth leaving him with daughters to raise by himself and the healing from this anger and loneliness is amazing. In truth you dont heal unless you start facing grief in the face. Then and only then can you really manage to let God touch your wounds and heal them. From the beginning of the book Daniel was a grouch but the widow, LoveJoy, did a phenomenal job of making him face the reality of his grief. Later, as you see a grouchy mountain of a man turn into a smitten teddy bear, it makes your heart flutter.

I really enjoyed this historical, funny and heartwarming collection and I hope you will too.
