Great read - intense and powerful though not always in a pleasant way. When ultimate good and ultimate evil battle awful things happen to good people [the vamps who are the villains give sadists a bad name.] And part of battle is those good people recovering and moving on to fight the evil. And sometimes good things happen as well. Love. Friendship. Recovering those thought lost...

Lots of intense, page-turning action in the plot; Navarre is a wonderful damaged hero; and Marissa is a heroine trying to control her own life for the first time ever. Cinitas and Herrera are continuing villains and torturous [sometimes literally] politics are at work...

Marissa is kidnapped by Herrera to gain control of her money and shares in the oil cartel and he is willing to do literally anything to her to gain his desires. Navarre, weakened and blinded, is kidnapped as well but he still manages to escape with her, her extremely injured brother, and a priest who thinks he is the spawn of the devil - rather than the direct opposite. While they attempt to escape through the jungle; Nick and the rest of the crew from Twilight have arrived to search for them.

This is not a stand alone novel - read the series in order as the story arc is VERY sequential. [Bride takes up basically hours after the end of Kiss.] Also, probably not a series for those with rigid religious beliefs, as the mythos is not quite the standard Biblical text.

I'm looking forward to next one in the series.
