A Bride for Donnigan wasn't what I expected. Kathleen leaves her homeland hoping for a better life as a bride to an unknown man. Donnigan Harrison can't believe his fellow town's men are seeking "mail order" brides. Once given though he's open to the idea since he's tired of talking to himself and his horse. With the desire to become more of a Christian and eager to learn more Donnigan learns the town's church as closed. He begins to read the bible and tries to teach himself (and others) what Christianity is all about. An unlikely source is actually the key to his short-comings. In my opinion this is an overall good book. I did feel like the book ended kind of quickly though I do like the author (first time I've read any of her books) and have since ordered all of the Women of the West Series (their are now 12 of them). All in all a good buck and you won't be disappointed with this love story!

Wonderful, refreshing to the reader who wants a good inocent book.
Janette Oke always writes in such captivating and beautiful ways, drawing the reader to be in the actual story. Great read!

This is a great book. I just finished it and I love the story. The end of the book gets a little preachy, but that is just Oke's way. I definetly reccomend this one.

I liked this book. the bride was very young when she became a bride, much younger than Donnigan but he was a gentle, caring man. It took a while before they understood each other, they were closemouthed for a while both assuming wrong things about each other because they were afraid to talk to each other. He treated her like a child, she wanted to be treated like a woman. It worked out though and turned into a very nice love story. You'll like it. Its a mail-order bride story. He almost sent her back but didn't.

A really good story!
This is the first Janette Oke book I have read, I really enjoyed it. I've heard of mail order brides but did not realize what would motivate young girls to do this. This book makes a lot of sense to me of why the girl would make such a bold move. I would recommend this book who enjoy a good clean love story.-Teresa

I have read this book over and over again. The story line has always been one that has taken me in. I always feel like I am right beside the characters when they cry I have cried when they went through a hard time my heart broke with theirs. This book is a must read.

Not my favorite Janette Oke book, but still good. It was a little harder to get into this novel. The story is interesting, but I never did really connect with the characters.

Great book, one of Oke's Women of the West, however the series is not related to each other, just that she wrote them and they are all set in the Old West. This was one of my favorites!
