This story didn't turn out to be the way I expected and that in itself is a good thing. There were lots of unpredictable twists and turns that kept the characters interesting. I enjoyed how the developing love between Aileen and Blake wasn't something that they fought against too hard and that it happened fairly early on in the story. However, I was frustrated and disappointed that their romance was dominated by Aileen's sister's dilemma, and that Aileen's scandalous history was glossed over, which should have played a more prominent role in how she related to Blake. Ultimately, I wondered who's story this was; Aileen and Blake's or Tara's? Because of the lopsided slant, I have to give this one 3 stars.

This was a fun easy to read story! I did it in one day since I had to find out what happens!
Love the twist and turns and how everybody is jumping from their soon to be to be with someone else!
Has the strong female, spoiled female, gambling father and a brooding hero!
Series off to a great start.

First, there was absolutely too much going on in this story. Aileen and Tara's father is a poor excuse for a human being; I didn't find a single positive thing to say about him. Tara is selfish and self-centered; not great character traits for the second female lead. Ruary and Jane's story was complicated by the sudden arrival of Tara (who has decided she wants the horse trainer instead of the wealthy, handsome Blake).

When Tara runs home to Scotland because she is running away from her betrothal, her father and Blake (the jilted fiancee') arrive at the ancestral home to talk Tara into having the wedding at their ancestral homeplace. However, at that time, Blake meets his future sister-in-law Aileen and they decide they are in love (rather quickly, I thought).

While Tara chases Ruary (who is engaged to Jane), Blake decides to pursue Aileen. One almost needs a scorecard to keep up with the couples. I was very disappointed in this book.
