Edmund Fitz Clare has been kidnapped for nefarious reasons. His adopted family - Sally, Graham and Ben - are doing what they can to find him. Though they aren't really siblings, there is some incestuous behavior going on and one of the three has turned vampire in an effort to further help Edmund.
I didn't like this installment as much as the others though I can't for the life of me explain why. I didn't really like Graham and Pen just isn't trustworthy. I feel she's going to come back to bite the Fitz Clare's in the butt. This won't derail me from this series as it was okay and probably just a filler book anyway. I do have the next book [book:Catching Midnight|398129] and will work that into a challenge sometime this year.

I could not wait to read this book to see what happened to Edmund. Estelle should have been a larger part in helping to find Edmund than the Dream walking she did. With her strong left hand. Estelle never got the chance to use her strength but only one. The captive should have been Estelle to lure Edmund into a trap. Not to successfully take a master vampire unawares. This book was missing humor as well as self sacrificing.
