My favorite author is Adriana Trigiani. And on her official website, she sometimes posts her favorite books. This was one of them. And so I looked for and found it here on PBS and ordered it. And I'm so glad that I did!
I loved this story! Mia Saul's husband left her for an Oriental woman that he meets in his travels as a documentary filmmaker, leaving her and their 10 year old daughter to fend for themselves. She loses her job, her daughter begins acting out in school, and her entire life is depressing. One day, after accidentally leaving a bag of groceries on the ground in front of her daughter's school, she goes back to her bank's ATM machine where, instead of handing her the $100 she attempts to withdraw, the machine starts spitting out thousands of dollars (with the receipt only reading $100). For Mia, what follows is quite an adventure. (I almost didn't re-post this book because I enjoyed it so much!).

I wanted this book to keep on going. I was sad when it ended because I really liked the characters. Being a single mom for 8 years, I related to the main character Mia. The supporting characters were also very likeable. It makes you think about what you would do if given the same choices to make.

I guess I'm in the minority here, but I found this book incredibly annoying. The whole premise is ridiculous, but most annoying was the main character Mia. Self described as "impulsive, emotion-driven, spontaneous", she's actually immature, selfish & mis-guided. I cheered for her family when they tried to set her straight. Her relationship with her daughter is the only decent relationship in the book and even that is extremely flawed. Mia is awful to her "best friend", boyfriend, brother, siser-in-law & mother. No wonder her life is falling apart.
Dumb book with a dumb characters. Glad to be done.

I had ordered this on a whim and am so glad I did! Wonderfully well written, with an excellent cast of characters and some surprising plot twists. An enjoyable, often funny and touching (without being sappy) read. Order it and see for yourself!
really enjoyed this book.....what if????
slow start, but then couldn't put it down.

What would you do if you went to the ATM and it kept spitting out money? Well this is what has happened to Mia. She isn't about to give it back, there is thousnads of dollars. Her new found stash opens up a world of oppertunity and a whole lot of trouble. I loved this author, the story was cute and well written and before i knew it.. it was over and i wasn't ready for it to end.
Excellent read.... Highly recommended.
