Lucky me! I have the second book in the series, Ghost Country, waiting for me right after turning the last page of this very interesting sci-fi type thriller. This first novel, The Breach, ends with a lot of unanswered questions and a cliffhanger that will make fans rush to find out out what happens next.

The story begins with a lone man trying to find answers in the Alaskan wilderness. Travis Chase has just recently been released from prison after serving time for a crime that we never quite get the details of but that will probably be significant later. He discovers a crash site of a 747 -- everyone on board is dead. There are cryptic messages and a strange series of instructions about a sphere that was taken from the plane. This sets in motion a very fast paced and suspenseful adventure that involves alien technology and lots of blood and guts. Travis rescues one of the two hostages taken from the plane and the two of them embark upon a mission to stop and prevent an apocalypse beyond his imagination.

The futuristic sci-fi and the technical information provide the reader with lots of interesting things to imagine and the narrative moves quickly as Travis and his rescued hostage Paige try to second guess and outwit the entity that is trying to control all the events that transpire. The problem is that The Whisper knows and can predict everything...from years in advance.

This is a quick read that you'll devour if you like futuristic "end of the world" science fiction adventures!

Trying to regain his life in the Alaskan wilds, ex-con/ex-cop Travis Chase stumbles upon an impossible scene: a crashed 747 passenger jet filled with the murdered dead, including the wife of the President of the United States.
Starts out fast with lots of little details that intrigue, slows some in the middle but finishes nicely.

An interesting premise and well-developed characters make this SF thriller a very enjoyable read. Although this is the first volume of a trilogy, it finishes with a flourish suitable for a standalone novel. Questions raised include issues of predestination and foreknowledge, making this a thoughtful and fascinating book. Highly recommended.

This book, and the followup book, Ghost Country, are real page turners. Fairly good dialog, believable action and back story, they are all around pretty good fluff to read. I don't usually read books like these but they did grab me.

First of a series of modern science fiction with quite an interesting plotline. Fairly light reading took me perhaps 4 hours...kept my interest and did not put the book down until it was finished.

Enjoyed this book sufficiently to being ordering the next one in the series which features the primary male and female characters.

Good read!!

Finished this book in about a day...on a boat trip from San Diego to Los Coronodos Island and back for a scuba trip. From a guy's perspective...it is a quick read and I enjoyed it enough to order the next book in the series. Good summer beach read.

Very enjoyable book. Very fast-paced blend of high tech/sci-fi and adventure. The plot keeps you guessing until the last pages.

For those of you who saw the movie or TV show, "Stargate", imagine a corridor that has been opened on one end by a physics error. Mysterious objects come out of the corridor known as the Breach.

The items have unique characteristics. Some of their uses are figured out and some are not. It is not known what or who is on the other end of the Breach or why the objects are being sent.

Throw in a group (organized with world-wide members) who are tasked with protecting the Breach as well as the objects that come through it versus a group bent on conquering the facility for their own purposes. This mix is the basis for this first (of 3?) novels.

The mystery is only heightened as the story progresses. Some of the answers are revealed and more are left for the sequel(s).

This turned out to be an excellent first book in the trilogy that is combined action, thriller, sci-fi, and is
a great read. When I read the book blurb about the protaganist finding a plane that carried the President's wife I thought "ehhh". Well pardon me. That turned out to be a very mistaken presumptive ehhh. The follow up to this book is called "Ghost Country". If you're not a sci-fi fan, don't let that influence you into turning away from one terrific story.

Original and exciting. Similar style to another of my favorite authors, James Rollins.

Only 3 stars here--hard to review a book that you aren't for sure what was happening, I did finish this book and have the next one ready to go and I'll try to read it too, however, I thought it started out fairly good but I also thought it is confusing to know what is going on at times. I'm not a scifi reader so maybe I just didn't get it but I'll stick with the 3 stars
