If you are easily offended, this book is not for you. But if you are a fan of sexually-charged realist literature--from Bukowski to Henry Miller to Anais Nin--you might enjoy Brass. Alot of English slang..disturbing and erotic. Helen Walsh's writing gives you very vivid peek into the darkness of our souls - troubling at best

Talk about depressing! Good book, once you get past the British accent. Much of it is written phonetically, so it takes a while to understand that, as well as the slang, which was also difficult to understand except when used in context. Other than that...I still couldn't put it down. I tend to like dark and depressing books, and this one is no exception. If you are looking for a happy read, this is NOT it! But it was very good, very sad, and well written. You could visualize the streets, the pubs, the hookers.
