This is an unbelievably inspiring story that makes me want to putter in my garage until I've invented an alternative energy source. What he did was so simple and so brilliant, and the stuff he taught himself about electricity just blows me away. Coiling his own whatever-ma-callits to increase voltage, and making his own circuit breakers out of magnets and ball point pens. He's like a real-life MacGyver.

This is really an interesting read about a boy growing up in a small African country. Reviewers have used many terms to describe this read all of which I agree apply. Read it and walk in the footsteps of Kamkwamba's life. I did and highly recommend it.

A heart-rending story, full of hope and promise. Has the same life affirming message that Unbroken and Boys in the Boat. Well written and a remarkable story

Very nice story about determination and circumstance. We should take nothing for granted.
