I really enjoyed this book. The author has a very unique style. The characters were well developed and the story was very interesting going in directions I never would have imagined. It is a great modern-esque play on the Snow White fable drawing in elements of race and beauty at a time in history when race relations were a very big issue. I highly recommend this book.
I'm glad to have read this - inventive, memorable characters, assured writing not too impressed with itself. I think I wish the story had been wrapped up a little bit better. Unless I really missed something, I didn't feel the fantasy elements were carried through to the "finish line."
it was already a bit problematic, but then it took a sharp turn into horrible transphobia
