This was written by an English woman and many English phrases and terms appear in the story.

Casey and her husband Mike are carerers (foster parents) in a program to help young people who need care the most to prepare them to be able to live in the world by learning to control their emotions and behaviors and move on in the care program.

Justin was the first child that was placed with them. He was 11 years old and had been abused physically, emotionally, and sexually for many years. He was an angry rebellious young man who knew that his mother placed him into care. He also knew she did not want him and actually hated him as she told him every time he had contact with her.

Casey and Mike spent much effort and time to help Justin. At times it was very hard and at other times rewarding.

This book made me mad, sad, glad and so grateful to people like Casey, Mike and the others in her care program who did all they could to help Justin work through the damage caused to him as a very young child.

This book at times was hard to read the details of Justin's early life but those details were needed to see the advances he was able to make under the love and understanding of the Watson family.
