The Boy Next Door is a hilarious and very fast read. I literally read it in less than a day. The sequal (Boy Meets Girl) I did not find quite as good, but that may be because I had read this one first. The format (all told in email) was very different than other books I've read and this is definately one you want to read to take your mind of deep thoughts and intense novels. Meg Cabot's books just all seem to be very good and worth the money and time spent!

This is a typical example of the new genre called Chic Lit. It is light reading, fast moving, easy to understand, and entertaining, but not juvenile. The book is about a journalist for the NY Journal and her day to day life with her coworkers. She is a very feisty gal who you will be very fond from the beginning. The entire book is written in the format of Emails between Mel and her coworkers, who include, her best friend, the food critic, her boss, the office gossip, a openly gay office employee, and others. She meets Mr. Right under the most unusual cirmcumstances and though they are both are crazy about the other, the relationship is strained from the beginning because the boyfriend has misrepresented himself from the beginning. The plot of the story leads the reader thru the development of their relationship, and the predicament of how they deal with the discovery of the initial deception. I highly recommend this book for a fun, refreshingly light hearted book with a good ending.

Very cute, and it's wonderful how things play out. This book is written in email format, with subject lines and the to from so you know who the emails are from, but after a few pages, you quickly pick up on the voices behind the emails and you stop looking at the to from section. This does involve a mystery and it is very very interesting to see how the suspects line up.

Love this book and the others in the boy series!!! The email style of writing is so great! You can read in short bursts if needed, but you won't want to. I found myself thinking I had only read a couple of pages but had actually read 20-30. Great writing style with a story that grabs you and won't let go.

An easy read - finished it in a day or so - the only part I didn't like is that the entire book is emails written between the characters. Nice summer read though.

Fast, fun read. A little like reading someone's emails that have been left on the printer. I very much enjoyed the email style. I just put the next book in this series on my wish list - I hear it's more email, but also text messages, IMs, etc. I'm also going to look into other Meg Cabot books.

In the mood for something different? This fun story is told entirely by the correspondence of the characters. Humor, drama, and romance! I enjoyed this very much.
