The Boy the Mole the Fox and the Horse
Author: Charlie Mackesy
I recorded the audiobook in an old barn in Suffolk, in a cave of cushions, often being interrupted by Barney my dog snoring, and bees around the microphone. I drank a lot of tea and ate more cake than you can imagine. I really hope you enjoy it. Thank you for listening. Charlie x

The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse with text and art by Charlie Mackesy is perfect for these uncertain times. It's like a soft blanket on the first chilly evening of autumn.

From the author's introduction: "This book is for everyone, whether you are eighty or eight ... I'd like it to be one you can dip into anywhere, anytime. Start in the middle if you like. Scribble on it, crease the corners and leave it well thumbed."

In the hands of a different creator, the sentiments could be trite and saccharine. When paired with Mr. Mackesy's âorganicâ art, the humor and sentiment is spot on and comforting. This is a quick read, but don't rush through - take your time and/or re-read to absorb all the positive and comforting thoughts.

I think maybe every human with fragile heart should keep this permanently on their bedside table.

some cute illustrations and some words of inspiration. "What do you want to be when you grow up?" "kind" says the boy. And some other sweet sentiments along the lines of be kind, be yourself, and you will be loved.
