New book (fourth in series), new author but true to the original first three. GREAT read and can't wait for the movie. Lots of action, reflection and intrique (sp)

I had some trouble getting into this one but once I got about a quarter of the way it was a page-turner. The end was fairly predictable but the many twists and turns along the way kept it interesting. I could have done with less of the fight scenes.

This is the fourth book in the Bourne series, and the first written by Eric Van Lustbader. If you're considering the series as a whole, you should know that beyond the concept of a skilled assassin who has no memory, there is very little similarity between the books and the movies. The first three books (by Robert Ludlum) were very good. In this book (and the subsequent books written by Van Lustbader), though, there is no continuity with the earlier books in the series. Van Lustbader takes the name Bourne and a little bit of the history, but changes everything else to write the novel he wants. Major characters are killed off just because he doesn't want to deal with him, Bourne has moved to a different city just for convenience to the novel's plot, he seems to be much younger despite the fact that this novel is set many years after the first three, etc. Everyone has their own opinion, and I'm sure there are many people who love Van Lustbader's Bourne books, but my recommendation would be to read Ludlum's original Bourne trilogy, and then stop. Reading Van Lustbader's books is just frustrating because he ignores so much of what is built in the original trilogy.

This is a Jason Bourne book - after estabishing a new life as David Webb, he is brought back to his Bourne persona when he comes under attack by an assassin named Khan. This book takes him to Paris, Budapest and Poland. Bourne is also reunited with a person from his past.

Not by the original Ludlum but still a good read. Plenty of action.

Eric Van Lustbader has proven himself worthy of continuing Ludlum's Bourne series. He's trying to save himself again along after two of his best friends in the CIA are murdered (from the inside??)and he is suspected of the crimes. Worth the read.

Robert Ludlums' character Jason Bourne in a new story by Eric Van Lustbader. Every bit as good as the stories told by the original author. Action-packed and modernized.

A killer of a thriller

A different sort of Bourne book by Eric Van Lustbader. It's even different for the author. Much more character development and perspective on the hearts and minds of terrorists as well as that of international assasins.
In the larger context of an international symposium between east and west regarding working together to deal with terrorism, there is the exploration of the motives behind hate, killing, and the possibility of redempton. Of course there is the usual foe for Bourne to deal with. There is also the highly ranked international assasin hired to kill him, who just might be his own son.

Out of the ashes of his violent past he's emerged today as a Georgetown Professor, living a quiet life, retired from danger-until he narrowly escapes the bullet of a faceless Assassin. And when two of bourne's closest associates are murdered, Bourne knows that his legacy has followed him-and set him up as a prime suspect for the brutal crimes...

On its own, this book is a solid thriller. But when compared to the original trilogy written by Robert Ludlum, it begins to pale. The main character, Jason Bourne, just doesn't feel the same; he's less super human and more dependent on others.

Not bad, but the author's style didn't fit the genre and wasn't consistent with the original books of the series. It read sort of like he was trying to write a movie script rather than a novel. I always thought Lustbader did a good job on his fantasy books, but apparently he's not as familiar with the real world and there are several jarring passages or descriptions that bump you out o fthe story. Techinical details are not as well researched as most spy novels, and some are just plain ignorant. Good story, though.

Eric Van Lustbader has done a great job continuing the saga of Jason Bourne. This one has a major twist in it, one not expected. Jason's retirement is interrupted when he is set up and it just keeps getting more and more intense, until the climactic ending.

Jason Bourne returns from the shadow's as the world's # 1 assassin..and the world's largest #1 target.

Very technical as to CIA and foreign intrigue, but a good book.

Although I was unfamiliar with Eric Van Lustbader until reading this book, he does an amazing job portraying Jason Bourne. Plenty of suspense to keep you on your feet and a very dramatic storyline. I am a huge fan of the Bourne series and this an excellent addition to it for the Bourne fans out there.

Jason Bourn returns in a new novel. A must for all all his fans.
Lustbader does Bourne justice in this fast paced nail-biter. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this as much as the other Bourne novels. Fun stuff!
Fast moving with suspenseful text. A very nice addition to the Bourne family.
This is eric van lustbader book based on robert ludlum's character, Jason Bourne. Lustbader is a noted author in his own right(WHITE NINJA, THE MIKO, FRENCH KISS, ZERO, etc.). It is obvious that lustbader was a great admirer of ludlum's work.
Veteran thriller maestro Lustbader (Black Heart, etc.) seizes the reins of Robert Ludlum's bestselling Jason Bourne series, proving that even Ludlum's death can't stop the ex-CIA operative. David Webb, a mild-mannered Georgetown professor, harbors his old Bourne identity deep within his psycheexcept in moments of danger. A mysterious assassin, Khan, has targeted Webb. Seeking counsel from his old CIA handler, Alex Conklin, Webb arrives at Conklin's home to find him, along with Webb's psychiatrist and friend, Mo Panov, murdered. Unsurprisingly, it's a setup, and Webb is declared a rogue agent and the prime suspect. His only clue to the real killer is a pad of paper with a faint impression of the notation "NX 20." Meanwhile, in Reykjavik, preparations are underway for the upcoming summit on worldwide terrorism. Even the dimmest thriller reader will immediately intuit that Bourne, pursued by the world's leading intelligence agencies, will end up in Iceland confronting some evildoer out to wreak havoc on the international terror conference. And thus it comes to pass. Lustbader has wisely eschewed mimicking Ludlum's signature styleshort punchy paragraphs with lots of exclamation points. His own prose, often cliche-ridden ("Khan felt as if his brain was about to explode. He was shaken to his very foundation"), is perfectly serviceable, effectively conveying the myriad cinematic hairsbreadth escapes, crosses, double crosses, explosions, furious fisticuffs and careening plot twists. It's a hearty serving of meat and potatoes action adventure, just the sort of fare that both Ludlum's and Lustbader's fans relish.

I have read all of the Bourne series books. Found them so exciting that I checked out the movies, too. This is an outstanding series from Robert Ludlum to Eric Van Lustbader. The hero is tragically caught in series after series of experiences that shadow him throughout his life.
Once, Jason Bourne was notorious in the clandestine orld of covert-ops as one of the CIA's most expert international killers for hire. This is what the movie is based from.
