I thought this book had potential so I stuck with it. After the first 25 pages or so it got slightly better, but that was pretty much it. This book is like a secular Easter egg hunt. Buried in its zillions of words are the few that matter.

The book is detailed, overwhelming. I thought at first it was a reflection on the narcissism that the book claims that vampires get. No detail too small is left out. But its the wrong details I know more about some of the people that the vampires ate than I do about the main characters. There will be pages on how a primary character dresses, but nothing on how they think.

The coup de grâce was the ending. I thought it was not good. The worst choice among many possibilities.

The book is about gay vampires. They kill people. They have sex. Its not really an erotic book as much it is a book about power and control.

I really wanted to like this book. I tried, but it just didnt happen.
