This thriller was a bit different than other Rosenfelt books, in that it was more of a "twilight zone" story - with some supernatural tendancies, which are all explained as the story unfolds. And a wild ride it is! Loved it!

David Rosenfelt is a master of conspiracy plots. This one hit the mark early on and kept on punching. I had a few suspicions along the way, but there were plenty of red herrings to throw me off. He did a great job too of being sure there were no holes in the plot by the time I reached the last page. Considering how complicated the conspiracy was, that's quite an accomplishment! I definitely recommend this book for those who want suspense and mystery.

Reporter Richard Kilmer is living a happy life with his fiancee Jen. After a car accident in which Jen is killed, Richard is forced to question whether his memories can be trusted or not, as none of his friends remember his fiancee and there is no physical evidence of their life together.

Determined to find out what really happened to Jen, he takes his story public by writing an article about his search for her. His life is threatened and others are killed as he tries to solve the medical mystery of whether his memories are real or not, and if not, how did they get in his head.

Though it at times feels implausible (like many thrillers), On Borrowed Time is a quick and immersing read. This engrossing thriller would be perfect for a short plane ride or day at the beach.

Richard Kilmer is everyman; just as common bloke who happens to be a writer. Hes met the woman of his dreams (no pun intended), Jennifer Ryan. During the Christmas holidays, they go to see her parents and Richard asks Jennifer to marry him. She accepts. On a lark, they decide to go to see Kendrick Falls. Suddenly, a storm churns up and they are in an accident.

Richard cannot find Jennifer. He goes through all the motions (looking for her, telling her parents, police reports, etc.) and still no Jennifer. Richard goes home and talks about Jennifer everything in his life has changed. Nothing of Jennifers is left in their apartment, his friends dont know what hes talking about when he mentions Jennifer, nothing seems right.

Then, Richard uses his journalistic talent to tell his story in a national magazine. He finds that he no longer controls his world. Thus begins a thriller that races along at break-neck speed.

David Rosenfelt always delivers! I find myself hooked into his stories by page 2. The first time I read this, I was agog with the story. Rereading it (and after seeing this plot used by another writer), Im not quite as impressed. However, it is a good, fast-paced story.

The narrator was excellent.
