Born to Bite is the 13th book in the Argeneau series by Lynsay Sands. This book takes place immediately after the Rouge Hunter with (I think) part of them coinciding.
Eshe, one of the Enforcers for the council, is sent to investigate Armand Argeneau in the deaths of his previous wives as well as the death of his son's wife. Armand is told by his brother Lucian that Eshe is in need of protection as a way to get Eshe in the door. While Eshe begins her investigation she discovers that there are many who care for Armand, including the town-folk where he lives, the families of his deceased wives and his second (Cedrick).
Born to Bite is not exactly the typical Argeneau novel, Eshe and Armand are already both immortal and have both previously had a life mate. There is no adjustment to learning about the immortals and the possibility of lifemates. Rather this book focus on discovering a mystery that has plagued Armand Argeneau for many years. I really enjoyed this addition to the series, getting the chance to get to know Eshe and Armand was a treat!

The last couple of chapters and the epilouge were good. Sorry Lynsay, I thought the rest was pretty boring. The last book was very good, which made this one, that I was so looking forward to, a big let down. I love the Argeneaus though, and will keep reading the series.
Love this series, the way it ties family and friends together in the stories.
Pretty good read but it seemed a little short on the witty dialogue I have come to expect from her. It is a direct continuation of #12 [The Renegade Hunter] - do not read this one without having read the other first. The mystery which lies at the heart of The Renegade Hunter is not resolved but continued on into Born to Bite.

While this had some of the humor of the earlier books, it still wasn't as enjoyable as the first few in the series. It was a definite improvement over the Rogue Hunter books in the series though. And it was nice to see some of the earlier characters that I had fallen in love with, like Lucien and Bricker, who always made me laugh.
I thoroughly enjoyed Armand's life mate Eshe from the moment she roared in on the back of her motorcycle. She was wild and a spitfire in the earlier Hunter book but less so around Armand. This book was a bit more action packed and less romantic than what I normally expect from Sands but it was nice to finally discover what had happened to Armand's former wives. The normal romantic tension and humor seemed lacking but this may have been because both were vampires and there was none of the "Yes, I am a vampire-see my teeth" convincing that normally takes place when one of them was human. In spite of some of the shortcomings, I still thoroughly enjoyed the latest visit with the Argeneau family and expect to get started on "Hungry For You" shortly.

Another fun Argeneau/Rogue Hunter story - this one picks up the cliffhanger left at the end of Nicholas' story in the previous book. Namely, this book focuses on Nicholas' father, Armand, and the hunter sent to find out why three wives and one daughter-in-law have all died in "accidents". I enjoyed the story and liked the slight twist to the mystery - I was sure I knew whodunnit and was pleasantly surprised to discover that I was close but not quite correct.
Love this series!
Yet another great Argeneau series book.
I loved this book!
It takes place for the 2 weeks that Nickolas was locked up in his book. But this is the story of his father(Armand) finding out who murdered his lifemate and his two wives and also the death of his daughter-in-law and finding a way to clear his son on the death he was charged with. Defiantly couldn't put it down, and on top of finding the murderer(s) he has to go through all the signs of him finding is lifemate in the Council Enforcer (Eshe) that is brought in to find out what happened all those centuries ago.
