I found this book too clinical for my tastes. I had a woman I tried to be friends with who treated me so badly and had me so confused that after 5 months, I had to end the friendship. My therapist said that she thought this woman had Borderline Personality Disorder. So, I thought I would read up on this condition so that in the future, if I met anyone else like this, I would understand them better and maybe react differently. But this book was not what I was expecting. It is like it is written for other doctors or therapists in understanding their patients. Boring and full of diagrams, etc. He also has an annoying habit of using examples of actual patients that he treated in the 1960's. Why is this? They didn't know anything about this disorder in the 60's. Why not use up to date examples. Something we can relate to in the here and now? Well, if you're a therapist, this may be the book for you.
