The sequel to the popular Booked to Die. Cliff Janeway, Denver cop-turned-book-dealer, finds himself chasing down a charming young fugitive named Eleanor Rigby, who has stolen a rare copy of Poe's "The Raven" for reasons of her own. Trouble follows, and Eleanor disappears into a city filled with people who want the book, and don't care what they have to do to get it. Stuffed with fascinating book lore, this mystery is a bibliophile's dream.

The 2nd Cliff Janeway book ... if you haven't heard about this series or read any of them yet ... do a little research & see if this something you would enjoy.

We find them very interesting & compelling ... good plot & Cliff Janeway if a great main character. Good, very well-written novels!

Cliff Janeway is lured by an enterprising (and suspicious) ex-cop to Seattle to bring back a fugitive wanted for the possible theft of a priceless edition of Edgar Allen Poe's 'The Raven.' The bail jumper turns out to be a young, vulnerable woman who calls herself 'Eleanor Rigby, who turns out to be a gifted book scout (she taught Janeway a few trucks about book scouting)" The note goes on to say that Janeway is intrigued by Eleanor, and also by the people who are pursuing her to retrieve the book.

This episode gets into the fancy small press special edition world, where some truly beautiful books are designed & created, and later coveted for different reasons. I've seen one or two ... WOW! Here we have many basic sinners of various sorts making for a good story.

This might be the best of the Cliff Janeway/Bookman mysteries. They are all good, though.

What a good book!! And, what a good mystery! I didn't know a lot about book publishing, printing, binding, but learned alot from reading this book and enjoyed every minute of it. Dunning is an excellent author.

This book is the sequel to Dunning's "Booked to Die". Cliff Janeway travels to Seattle to bring back a book scout who is wanted for assault, burglary, and the theft of a priceless edition of Poe's "The Raven".

Cliff Janeway is a cop turned bookseller who does anything but sell books. With a plot that transcends the years, tossed with bits of book lore, John Dunning creates a great book salad. I believe this is the second in the Janeway series and looking forward to the next installation.

Since I am a sucker for "all things books", I will admit to loving this series. Janeway is a bit of a macho man but he's a brainy macho man so I forgive him. Dunning's writing is fast and clean and his knowledge about books is solid. This series is a fun one for readers and book maniacs.

This is the sequel to BOOKED TO DIE, and is also a New York Times Notable book of the Year for '95. Dunning's mystery has more twists and turns than a bowl of spaghetti, and keeps you guessing all the way. A fun read!

From back cover: Now cop-turned-book-dealer Cliff Janeway is back, lured by an enterprising ex-cop into going to Seattle to bring back a fugitive wanted for assault, burglary, and the possible theft of a priveless edition of Edgar Allan Poe's 'The Raven.'
The bail jumper turns out to be a young, vulnerable woman who calles herself Eleanor Rigby, and who happens to be a gifted book scout. Janeway finds Eleanor enchanting--and is equally intrigued by the deadly history surrounding the rare volume. Stalked by people willing to kill to get their hands on it, a terrified Eleanor slips from Janeway's grasp and disappears. To find her, Janeway must unravel the secrets surrounding the book and its mysterious maker, for only this knowledge can stop the cruel hand of death from turning another page...
