I am not sure why people gave this such bad reviews. IT is witty, quirky, and fun. The pop culture references are abundant (and appropriate). Lots of puns and laughs.

The title character is an introverted, quiz playing, bookstore clerk. While the novel is not about books, per se, it is about the connections we can make within ourselves and with others. Books-- and the random trivia-- serve as a language to help her make sense of the world.

All in all, a fun read.

Please note: this is not the kind of literature that Oprah would pick for her book club. It is light and fun, rather than dark and fatalistic.

A book written for us book nerds! Delightful, entertaining, fun! Even though I'm twice+ her age, I could relate to Nina and her love of books, her desire for solitude, and her cat, Phil.
She's a trivia champ, holds reading clubs for kids, entertains groups in the book store and is quite happy with her life. Until an attorney shows up to tell her that the father she never knew has died and left her something in his will. She has lived 29 years without ever knowing anything about him, and now she has half-siblings and nieces and nephews! It's all overwhelming to this only child of a single, never at home, mother. But luckily she has a few supportive new family members who help her over the hurdle of "so much ness."
Along the storyline she falls for a competing trivia team member, Tom, so we have that little side story to enjoy.
This was a fun book to read. I look forward to reading others written by Abbi Waxman.

Favorite line: Shiny ribbons of traffic spangle below you, and in the distance you see an impossibly verdant patch, like a green darn in a gray sock.

I really enjoyed this book. Nina was a fun character and it was great to follow her story and journey. A light, fun read for those of us who like light romance, a great cast of characters, and books!

uplifting book about an introverted 20 something cat lady who works in a bookstore and is perfectly happy with her trivia team and reading. But then she meets family she never knew about and also meets a guy. She learns to become spontaneous and falls in love. Quick, light reading.
