While I got some good reading recommendations out of this book, they've been hit or miss for me. I debated long and hard about making this a part of my permanent collection, but for now I can go skim it at Border's and get ideas if I should lose my wishlist at Amazon. Not a keeper, but worth a skim to find books to add to Mount TBR. (Like I need more books!)

After reading A Year of Passionate Reading, this book left me flat. I skimmed through it and then posted it. Just titles listed by category. No thoughts about what made them great...

Nancy Pearl is a goddess among librarians. I've read this book before, but I enjoyed reading it again. It's a great book for when I feel like I don't know what I want to read. It covers just about everything you can imagine, from hefty histories and biographies, to classic literature, to popular fiction, to graphic novels and more. I especially like how enthusiastic she is about reading and books. There isn't any genre that she feels is beneath her, including romances and chick lit, two genres that many hardcore readers love to hate. Reading Nancy Pearl reminds me why I love to read.
