Brad Meltzer has the idea of a quick and fun read down pat. If you like suspense thrillers, thrown in with a religious backdrop, and oh not to mention the Superman comic book, then you will fly (no pun intended) through this and enjoy every moment of it. Highly recommend if you like a lighter version of The DaVinci Code -- very entertaining and if you are traveling for work or pleasure, this is a fun book to while away the time.

Excellent book, not like the typical Meltzer book, not full of the legal and corporate drama, more like Julia Navaro. A good gripping historical religious story line with a comic book twist, certainly an original story. Definitely worth waiting on the wish list.

It took me a while to get into this book but I stayed with it. I began to have a lot of questions - but no answers and gradually the answers came; I got hooked and had to keep going until the end - which left me with more questions. This is a story of finding the mark of Cain and Superman, but also it's about relationships and forgiveness. After saying all that, it is a good read.

While the author notes it was a story he wanted to tell for quite some time, I wasn't as pleased with this book as his others. If you are a fan of the legal/financial thrillers of Brad Meltzer's past, this is going to be a significant change from what you are accustomed from him. It's an interesting story, just different and going into that is needed, I think, to avoid disappointment.

I am a huge fan of Brad Meltzer and am always on the lookout for his books. That being said, I was disappointed in this book because it deviates so far from what I've grown to love about his writing. That aside, the story (while interesting enough) is told in a somewhat disjointed fashion, leaving me with many questions at the end.

This is not a complicated read. You can put the book down and come back to it a week later and not have forgotten any details, thus making the mystery of it all easy to follow. However - I did feel that some things were not explained enough and at other times details were dropped seemingly out of nowhere. The characters consistently make serious leaps of logic that seem unlikely.
Also, the ending of this book was a complete disappointment to me. I felt all the strings were tied up so happily that any moment the Muppets would appear and sing Kumbaya. Likely Mr. Melzer had a checklist of plot points and just went down it in order to finish the book off.
But if you want a brainless read, and are in to Superman mytholoogy, this is it.

This book was ok it took me a while to get into it. I thought the plot of the story was very choppy.

Great book hard to put down
This book is like all of Brad Meltzer's books: An adventure into the world of the past. This book pulled me into it and I couldn't put it down until finished. Integrate present-time problem with even as far back as Cain and Abel, the author makes you believe that anything is possible.
I even ordered and reread some of the SUPERMAN Comics that I read as a child.

What, exactly, was the "mark of Cain" told about in the Old Testament - and how in the world did it have anything to do with Action Comics, Superman? Interesting question? I thought so....the book was an adventure and well written right up to the end. But the author, in my opinion, threw the ending away. Still a good read though.

Interesting story, great build up, marred by big plot holes and a underwhelming ending.
