Now this is an amazing book. It transcends the genre. Sort a hint of the Unsinkable Molly Brown along with Cinderella and perhaps a bit of My Fair Lady, this story takes poor trailer trash Bonita Faye through amazing adventures to success in Paris. I've never read anything quite like it. I loved it.

Bonita Faye is from a small town in Oklahoma and is married to a mean old deadbeat near-do-well. When the need arises that she feels can only be settled by his demise, she "kills him a little bit". Her criminal act is not discovered and she meets one of the loves of her life at this time. With her new found wealth from the insurance policy she fulfills her lifetime ambition and goes to Paris, France making life long friends. To find out the REST OF THE STORY, you will just have to read it. You will find a lot of humor in "Bonita Faye", and I bet you will find it as enjoyable as I did, and recommend it to others as I have.

This is an absolutely wonderful book. I kept me involved from the very first page. The words just flowed off of the pages and totally enveloped me. A must read account of one southern woman's life with a little bit of murder and romance mixed in.

The interesting tale of the life of Bonita Faye, a feisty down-to-earth woman from Poteau, OK. First published in 1997, this fun read is just as timely now as it was then. The story is told from the perspective of Bonita Faye, a mere slip of a girl who has a tough start to her life. She's a child of poverty who marries young, to a mean-spirited man with no scruples. She kills the man in a fit of rage and so begins her new life - one she directs and controls - filled with wonderfully engaging people, colorful, fascinating places, and interesting stories.

This book would have made a good movie. It's a feel-good story, despite a number of really bad people in it, that ends well - like a dinner of delicious fried chicken with homemade apple pie for dessert. It was a nice break from my usual serial-killer fare (or was it?). Read it and find out for yourself! : )

I work at the county jail and I've never known a murderer/murderess to be so lovable.

The story of a woman so real, it will make your jaw ache. Bonita Faye is a warm, intelligent woman who grows from having life happen to her to making life happen for her. The author does a beautiful job! I wish whoever illustrated the cover had actually READ the book. The cover looks trite and gives the reader the impression that the story is also. NOTHING is farther from the truth. This is a deep, rich character driven novel that deserves much, much more attention.
