This writer is from New York but must have spent a healthy portion of his time in Portland as he got so much of the atmosphere very right. While I felt the characters were a little bit underdeveloped it was only because I wanted to know them better.
Perfect for anyone who ever wore flannel in July, sang along with Courtney Love, or ran over their Doc Martens while smoking a clove. The mid-90's in one grungy package.
The literary equivalent of a Gus Van Sant movie. Stilted, dry, boring. The sex is uninspired, the dialogue ridiculous the plot non existent. I'd rather drink actual bong water than read anything else by this guy.
