I really liked this one, the last two stories make it worth the credit or money spent if you plan on getting this. :)

-------

"Temptation On Ice" by Cherry Adair :

When paranormal operative Sebastian Tremayne heads to the Artic Circle to keep an eye on red-hot pyhsicist Michaela Giese, the polar ice cap isn't the only thing in danger of melting. This beautiful brainy woman could spark a nuclear disaster he cannot stop -- even with magic -- and ignite a fiery passion he cannot resist...

My Thoughts :

This was a bit too James Bond-y for me. Don't get me wrong I like James Bond. The characters were interesting to a point but I think the plot lacked a bit of.... something to keep me fully glued to the pages. I didn't ever find myself saying "man I just have to know what happens! What happens!?" Instead I was more like "yeah yeah * snaps fingers twice * lets keep the ball rolling and get this over with, save the day, have sex, and live happily ever after before I grow gray hairs." And somehow the ball just stopped and so did I. My interest vanished almost as quickly as it started.

"Temptation in Shadows" by Gena Showalter :

Tall, lean, muscular -- and definitely rough around the edges -- Sean Walker is not your typical nightclub bodyguard. Ge's a controller of shadows, able to wield darkness at will. But when a mysterious woman at the club turns out to have powers greater than his own, he has no choice by seduction....

My Thoughts :

The blurb made up for this is a bit deceiving. It leads you to believe the hero unintentionally comes across the heroine, but here's a secret. Their meeting is anything but coincidental, he works for an agency and she is his mission, he's just shadowing, no pun intended, as a bodyguard... well, more of a bouncer really. But either way. Now, I'm going to be completely honest here, I read this story last. With anthologies I tend to jump around stories, make it interesting, lol. Anyways I loved this story! I loved the characters, the whole presentation was executed perfectly. My favorite story in this book and I seriously hope this is part of a series, new or old it doesn't matter, I just want more of it.

"Hunting Temptation" by Lorie O' Clare :

A manhunter by trade, Seth is on the trail of his most dangerous prey yet : a living, breathing, man-eating werewolf. But the last thing he expects to catch in his trap is a beautiful, beguiling woman -- with some wild animal urges of her own....

My Thoughts :

Okay, another deceiving blurb. This guy is a bounty hunter not a manhunter. I don't know about you but when I hear the term manhunter I think of someone like the incest babies from the movie The Wrong Turn, someone who hunts others for sport and keeps various body parts strewn about as trophies. And there was no trap, sorry if that's considering spoiling I just want you to go in reading this with the facts not false information the creator of that blurb gives you. But, though the blurb does give you misleading information on what to expect with this story it is still a pretty kick-a$$ addition to this anthology and if read in the correct order a great way to end this book.

I read this because of Gena Showalter and Lorie O'Clare.

Temptation of Ice: I'm not really a huge fan of Cherry Adair. Her story was okay but I did find myself skimming through it and wanting her to just get on with her story. She gets kind of detailed with the technical things and I found it a little tedious. One of the characters in the story dies (I won't ruin it and tell you who) but the main characters acted like it was no big deal when I expected more.

Temptation of the Shadows: I have read most of Gena Showalter's books and I can see this being a start of another really cool series. As usual she introduces some really fun side characters and I would love to read more about them. I love how the heroine just makes so much sense. She wasn't overly tough or overly wimpy, just perfect. The hero just has the right amount of idiot in him to make him enduring.

Hunting Temptation: The blurbs on the back of the book doesn't do it justice. It was rather inaccurate. The hero is a bounty hunter. I agree with the other review that the term "manhunter" makes him more sinister. This was the first paranormal romance I read by O'Clare. I have only read her FBI series. I liked the story but I found the peripheral characters kind of wooden. I also would have liked more character development in the main characters, but it was worth the read.

I am typically not a huge fan of paranormal or short stories, but I read and enjoyed all three in this book.

I had never read any of these authors before. I enjoyed the stories enough that I would like to read more novels by them. I thought the characters were interesting, given the short space allowed for each story. They of course could've been fleshed out more if they had been given their own books. This anthology was worth spending the time and credit, and I recommend it to anyone who would like an entertaining way to spend an afternoon.

I picked up this book off the clearance rack at my local Half Price Books. I received nothing in exchange for this review.

This is an anthology, a trilogy of stories around a central theme. In this case, men of paranormal ability who are sent to guard or eliminate a female, who may or may not have some paranormal ability. The book is billed as erotic romance.

DANGER, DANGER, DANGER! BAD LANGUAGE AHEAD!

OK, in case you didn't get the message, this review contains a bit of bad language.

Temptation on Ice by Cherry Adair. Yes, she has a porn name, or what sounds like one. This is apropos, as her story reads like a porno. I have to mention that using words like cock, pussy, fuck and the like do not make a story erotic. They do make it explicit. Explicit is not necessarily erotic, though it can be. In this case, it's just bad. Thank goodness it was the shortest story in the book. This story rates a solid Poor.

Hunting Temptation by Lorie O'Clare. OK, her name's not quite so bad. The story is better, too. In this case, a human bounty hunter (pardon me, fugitive apprehension professional) is hunting what he learns is a rogue male werewolf. His first clue, passed along by a long-time informational contact, leads him to a nightclub, where he is distracted by a woman who has eyes for him. Turns out, she's a werewolf, part of a local pack, which he learns pretty late into the story. So, in this case, the theme is turned around and it's the woman who's paranormal and the man who may or may not be. Anyway, the romance seemed a little forced on the woman's side, and the overprotectiveness of the males in her pack got to be more than a little wearing to me, so I'm assuming this is why she felt the need to cut loose a little. This story rates a marginal Good.

Temptation in Shadows by Gena Showalter. The third story in the book (actually, it was the middle story), the longest by far, and the only one written by an author whose name I recognized (her name is why I bought the book, frankly), is also the best. It's actually erotic romance, between two people who are grown, not rebelling against anything, not constantly thinking with their sex organs. The premise of the story is solid, with a clear bad guy, and a heroine who's flawed but not weak. The romance takes time, and isn't some kind of instantaneous mind-boggling hormone-fest. Gena includes romance, suspense, action and a little mystery. The hero's paranormal ability is related to shadows, thus the name of the story, and it's an interesting ability. This story rates a solid Very Good.

This book is not worth the cover price. I got it for $2, and still felt a little gypped, until I read Gena Showalter's story. If you find it and are interested, avoid paying too much for it. I'll be listing it on my paperbackswap bookshelf.

Far and away the best in this on was "Temptation in Shadows," by Gena Showalter. A good balance between very likeable characters, good action, and sexy times.

My second attempt at a Cherry Adair story ("Temptation on Ice") was eh. (The first one I tried Hush was a DNF).

Lorie O'Clare's story ("Hunting Temptation") was also a miss for me. Overbearing men and a dumb heroine. Eh. I do own Play Dirty and Get Lucky in her bounty hunter series, so I do plan on reading more (some point in time).
