Carlotta Wren, amateur detective, is embroiled in a murder investigation. Angela Ashford, married to Carlotta's ex-boyfriend, Peter, (from 10 years ago) has been murdered. Carlotta feels that Peter is innocent and begins an investigation since she believes that the police aren't investigating properly.

Carlotta's brother, Wesley is having troubles with the law (computer hacking) and he's in deep with loan sharks (gambling). So Carlotta's got a lot on her plate not to mention the fact that her parents skipped town 10 years ago on an embezzlement charge and left her and her much younger brother to fend for themselves. Wesley gets a job working for a funeral home collecting dead bodies (hence the title) and his boss Cooper has the hots for Carlotta but unfortunately, Carlotta is hung up and Peter and ignores Coop.

Very exciting and action packed adventure -- the first in a series. I really enjoyed the characters in this book. The detective Jack Terry is funny with a dry sense of humor and interested in Carlotta regardless of the trouble she is in. Cooper is interesting in a macabre kind of way and interested in Carlotta. Her best friend Hannah is something else - piercings, 80s hair and loud and proud...too funny at times. Peter is an ass and hopefully this is the end of him in the series.

Easy read, entertaining as well. Not the greatest piece of literature but its a romantic mystery and first installment of a future series.

I found the rhythm of the writing difficult to read, and I just couldn't seem to connect with the main character.

This book is over 400 pages long, but it will whiz right by.
I have noticed this book did get stellar reviews, but it is what it is. I doubt it was meant to be an ophrah BOM. Stephanie Bond wrote romances before this series. There isnt any sex scenes really, just a few tingly moments that get interrupted.

This book is the 1st book in the Body Movers series, but right away I notice that there were references to our main characters being arrested before. And references to some hijinks with her best friend Hannah, and Jolie. So I did some googling, and Carlotta, and her friends were in a novel called Party Crashers. This might be worth reading first. I didnt have it on had, so I read this one without the other books info. I am under the impression that in Party Crashers, Carlotta isnt a main character, her friend Jolie is.

So about this book, I thought that the writer had enough talent to make the characters interesting. I found their situation frustrating. Frustration means something is blocking your goal. The characters goals were often blocked. I found myself frustrated, by their frustration, but there is more to the series, and I think books 2 and 3 will find more of satisfying outcome for all the characters.

This series isnt as quirky as Stephanie Plum, and the main character is smart, and doesnt make bungling mistakes. There were not enough concrete clues before the murderer reveals himself. But these types of books are required to have a few red herrings.

I loved this book. It is a very good read. Funny, sexy (but not explicit), and keeps you guessing who did it to the end.

I just couldn't get into this book--the main character AND her brother were annoying. The supporting cast was interesting so it is a shame; the story line had promise but I just couldn't get past those two. I didn't even finish it.

Not quite as funny as a Stephanie Plum book, but still worth reading!

I enjoyed the series very much. Read the novels that pre-date the series first for a bit of background information (not required). Fun, quick read. Hooked me and couldn't stop reading the series! Just had to know what happened next. Waiting for book 7, due out in 2012 - but when??

I do not like all the sex details in the books, however it is easy to skip past and you miss nothing by skipping it. So each to their own! Some rather vulgar language as well, not able to skip it all, so if this type of thing offends you, I would not recommend this series.

I recommend this series with reserve because of the sex content & vulgar language. The sex details are not as bad as some, but worse than others. I do not think it would keep me from reading the stories, but it might some. So now you know - use your own judgement!

So Carlotta Wre's life hasn't turned out as she'd planned. She didn't plan for her parents to skip bail for a white-collar crime, leaving her to raise her brother. She didn't plan on having the silver spoon ripped from her mouth and forgoing college to work retail. She didn't plan on her blue blood fiance dumping her. And she didn't plan on still being single ten years later, working at Neiman Marcus, with no idea where her fugitive parents are. But she's coping. Until...

...her lovable brother is arrested, and the hunky cop decides to reopen her parents' case.

... her brother becomes a body mover for the morgue, and his sexy boss gets Carlotta involved.

... her former fiance's wife (a good customer) is murdered, fingering Carlotta.

With three men in her life, Carlotta has added motivation to help bag a murderer to keep her own well-dressed body from being next on the list!

Stephanie Bond's books are always a fun read and this one is no exception! Nice light read for a lazy summer afternoon.

Carlotta's life isn't easy. Used to living the rich life, she is plunged into mediocrity when her parents disappear after her father is accused of a white collar crime, leaving her to raise her younger brother. Working as a top saleswoman in Atlanta, she has to face her former friends and her fiance's wife in order to earn top dollar. As if that weren't enough, now her wealthy fiance dumps her and her friends all shun her. Now it looks like her former fiance killed his wife.

A light-hearted, comic read. Carlotta is a spunky gal!
