A lot of good, basic information on eating and exercising. Doesn't seem gimmicky.

Has a lot of information, some new to me, some not. Still, a good book for motivation.

I felt better (physically and mentally) when working out and doing the BFL plan. I worked out at home and modified the workout to fit my circumstances. I have used other books as well with this for a more varied workout and the BFL women's version too. I enjoyed the before and after photos and the stories of those whose lives have changed due to a new way of life. The book that goes along with this regarding diet is not set up for other diets such as vegetarian or others but all are interesting books overall and a good place to start. Their website can be used for a resource to chat with others who are using BFL.

Change your mind--change your body--change your life. Imagine , just 12 weeks from now, having the lean, healthy body you've always waanted and not having to turn your life upside down to do it.

I hated this book. The information was good, but the writer speaks in a narrative with unnecessary verbage. There is the constant tic of "you see" throughout the writing, and being one who constantly edits people's writing, I found it truly irritating. If it were reedited, I would gladly reread this book.

This a 2 cd set, with about an hour on each Cd.
The first one seemed to cover mainly testimonials. Here is what I got about this
You need a inward change to motivate you to make an outward change, and you need to set goals in writing, and make plans to change. and really decide why you want to change.
The outward change seems to involve lifting weights to increase muscle, and burn more fat. You also set your own personal rating system based on 1 to 10. It kinda reminded me of the pain rating system at the Emergency room. So basically you are the judge of whether you made it to a 10 on your weight lifting. I realize that sounds lame, but you reach a 10 when you know you could not have lifted another rep of the weight. I have read this idea before in the book, so hearing it again was helpful.

His diet plan involves eating 6 smaller meals a day, combining protein with carbs and nothing bigger than the palm of your hand. Which is a concept that would work. He even encourages you to have one day a week where you just eat whatever you want. He doesnt ban pasta or potatoes or rice, which might be outdated as those types of carbs have been proven to be not as healthy for most people.

This classic program was recommended to me and though I have some qualms about just what the most recent research would say about some of what's in here, I'm looking forward to getting started on the plan or a variation of it for the summer.

Side note--it's interesting to see how things used to be done before full-bore internet marketing! ;-)

I lost 50 lbs. using the concepts from this book, so when I ran across a free copy, I knew to post for my PBS friends! I won't part with my personal copy - mostly because I've worn it out! You won't regret getting this book - IF you APPLY the advice within. Good luck!

From what I can tell from the inside front cover, the best things to do is get a tan, shave your body hair, and wear darker underwear.

******My copy of the book does not have a cover and has some writing (not much!) in it. Please let me know if this will be a problem!******

But the book for me was all common knowledge, even the recipes. This information may have been new when the book was published, but now I feel all of this information I use now, and I need more detailed information. I need the *next* step.
