Body Count: On the Murder Trail of Bayou Red, the Record Setting Serial Killer Who Terrorized the Deep South
Body Count On the Murder Trail of Bayou Red the Record Setting Serial Killer Who Terrorized the Deep South Author:Fred Rosen After his 2006 arrest in Houma Parish, Louisiana, Ronald Dominique confessed to the rape and murder of at least twenty-three gay men from 1997 to 2006 in parishes outside New Orleans. Dominique?s modus operandi was to pick up the young men at gay bars and offer them money for sex. When they agreed, he took them to his home, where he tied up his ... more »victims and carefully took off their clothes and always their shoes. Thus immobilized, his victims were raped and suffocated. In an amazing parallel to Jeffrey Dahmer, who was arrested after one of his victims got away, the same scenario happened to Dominique. He tried his binding act at his trailer home with a parolee who refused. The would-be victim left and reported the incident. The task force that had been charged with tracking down what was then known as the Shoeless Murderer brought Dominique in for questioning. Confessing to the twenty-three murders, the state of Louisiana made a deal. Dominique pled guilty to eight of the homicides and was given eight consecutive life sentences. Fred Rosen is a New York Times reporter and best-selling true crime author of Lobster Boy, When Satan Wore a Cross, and Body Dump, among others. He lives in New York.« less
