I hate to say, but I didn't like this book. The first one (Evermore: The Immortals by Alyson Noel) showed a lot of promise. It was a great concept (combining immortality and reincarnation), and introduced some solid teen issues for the characters to deal with.
This one, however, was just confusing and rushed. It could have been an excellent book - I enjoy Ms. Noel's writing style and I like the characters - but sadly this one falls short.

I am going to borrow the terminology from another reviewer on this site and say that the main character, Ever, is TSL (too stupid to live)! I mean come on! I realize she is in high school, but that does not mean she should act like a child and have the common sense of a toddler. I found her to be so pathetic during the whole book, that the ending of this story topped off to the whole: "dang, this book sucked" effect. The hard part is that this was the 2nd in the series, so if you like the first, naturally you want to read on as I thought I did. I know you will still read this installment if you enjoyed the first, and if you enjoy this one, then more power to you, if not, well, you were warned.

Blue Moon continues Alyson Noel's Immortals series shortly after Evermore left off -- with new Immortal, Ever, learning about her new gifts and her new eternal life under the guidance of her soul mate, Damen. She's enjoying finally being with Damen after 400 years and multiple star-crossed lifetimes, and is ready to finally take their relationship to the next level. (Yes, that level.)
Unfortunately for Ever (and perhaps fortunately for parents of younger fans of the series), the young couple has even more hurdles standing in the way of their togetherness. A strange new guy arrives at school and quickly draws the entire student body under his magnetic spell, but his attentions are set on Ever. At the same time, Damen begins to unexplicably weaken, losing his powers, his memories and even his basic personality in the process. To heal him and restore her life back to normal, Ever begins to explore her own special abilities. With the help of old friends and new, she must travel back to the Summerlands-- and maybe even turn back time.
I enjoyed this second novel in the Immortals series. Ever is sometimes frustrating, and makes a lot of impatient-teen-girl choices, but her actions are always in line with her character and personality. Damen was a little flat and underused in this story, and readers that loved the passionate, romantic tension of the couple in the first installment may miss that element in Blue Moon. But as a trade off, readers learn much more about Noel's world, including the mysteries of the Summerlands and its residents, Damen's past and the origins of the Immortals.
I think Blue Moon builds the Immortals story well, and doesn't suffer from much "sophomore series slump." However, I have to say, I wasn't wild about the big twist at the end. I'll be interested to get my hands on The Shadowlands so I can see how Ever and Damen overcome their newest hurdle.

Contrary to the other reviews I have read on PBS, this book was awesome! I thought it was much better than the 1st book, Evermore. I could not read fast enough! After reading Evermore, I thought it was OK but was in no hurry for the next book, but after reading Blue Moon, I can't wait for Shadowland.

Four stars! Well-written sequel to Evermore--I actually liked this one as much as the first. Lots of emotion going on. Although....the end did seemed abrupt and left a lot hanging, kind of like a "to be continued". The author's page count needs to be extended past 280! Blue Moon intruduced a few new characters that I think opens the door for more fun twists in Ever and Damen's story. Looking forward to Shadowland!

It is definitely slower than Evermore. It's still a good read, it just takes sometime to get into the plot. I usually find that I can get right into a book if I enjoyed the first in the series, but that wasn't the case with this book. It leads into the next book, Shadowland, very well.

As the 2nd book in the Immortal series, it moved quite slow. The first book was filled with information as we learned about the characters and the story unfolded, but much of the 2nd book repeated what we learned in the first and dwelled on the problem so long and then, so fast, it was solved in a couple chapters at the end. However, I still love the characters and can't wait for the third one, Shadowland, because this series definately has my curiosity!

To get to the point: this book sucked. I loved the first book, Evermore. This one, however, was awful. It was so slow and BORING. It seemed like nothing happened the whole book. And Ever, the main character, is so aggravating. She makes the stupidest decisions and it seems like she is always throwing a tantrum like a 3 year old. I was very disappointed with this one. I told my friends who liked Evermore to just not even bother. Those who didnt take my advice feel the same way that i do. I dont suggest it. 1 out of 5 stars

2.5 stars: After an enjoyable start to the series with "evermore, I dived in to the second book Blue Moon with fervor. I read non-stop until the end, not because it was that good, but because I knew if I put it down, I would not pick it up again.
Blue Moon started out strong, with Damens and Evers relationship growing organically as expected, and Ever starting to become more confident in who she is. We are introduced to a new character, Roman, who is not at all who he seems. From there the book falls flat. The bulk of the book was SO uncomfortable. I really need Ever to grow a backbone. I mean, really, I still have NO idea why Damen has attached himself so eternally to her, which by this point, I should get. She acts like the sixteen year-old she is, which does not suspend the disbelief that a much older, refined, intelligent gorgeous guy would be attracted so irreparably to her. We get a little taste of the first time they fall in love, but the attraction is all superficial: I still see no substance to the relationship.
The trips to Summerland were tediously drawn out. Ever spent most of the book trying to uncover what was going on with Damen, her school mates, and all her friends, and how Roman was involved in all of this. All the answers are just handed to her, however, in a series of scenes that just dragged and were uninteresting. I was not surprised by anything that happened, and the end: COME ON! It was a surprise, but not a welcome one. I dont even know if I care enough to pick up the third book, Summerland, as I expect it will be another series of tedious events only to over come the mistakes she made in Blue Moon.

I am a little dissapointed in this book. The first one was so good, but this one just fell short. I can't even pinpoint what exactly it was about the book that was so ... bleh.
I know one thing though, I don't see how Immortality and Immortal love all pivits on sex. Why can't They just love each other and be happy wiithout a peen sex romp thrown in. And wouldn't this fall in to the relm of pediphile when she is a 17 year-old girl and he's 617?

I am really happy with this 2nd book in the Immortals series, you get hooked right from the start. Very hard to put the book down. I am anxiously waiting for the 3rd one Shadowland.

I could barely get through this book. Ever, made bad choice after bad choice. No one is that stupid. Not even a teenager.

This was my favorite book in the immortal series! It was so shocking and suspenseful I read it in one sitting.
This series is great. I'm an adult and I loved it!
This one was better than the first one since it wasn't as much of a Twilight repeat. It was a little more unique. A new kid comes to school and when Ever and Damen make plans together. The new kid somehow seems to have a way to manipulate people. Ever desperately wants to know more about Damen's past, but he doesn't like the person he once was and would rather she not see that part of him. However, when something happens to Damen, Ever has to live as an immortal searching for answers and a way to get her life back and save Damen if possible. The story was a little odd at times, but it held together much better than the first one and continued the story as well. However the ending just makes you irritated (it's not bad, just annoying because it's a bit of a cliffhanger). There is language and talk about being sexual in this book.
I read this whole book series and I thought it was a very good book! Had a great plot, great characters and wonderful unexpected twists!

This is the sequel to Evermore which I loved so much I gave it one star. This sequel picks up where the last left off and tells the continuing saga of the newly immortal Ever and her immortal soul mate Damen as they struggle with teenage inanities and an evil nemesis.
I listened to this on audio and over two hours go by without anything of interest happening. There is plenty of bitchery and immaturity to go around, however, as we listen in on Ever and her small circle of self-involved friends as they natter on (and on) about inconsequential things. Eventually the book picks up when we, the reader, are invited on a shopping spree to Victorias Secret with Ever to watch her pick out the perfect pair of matching underthings that shes going to wear as Damen finally deflowers her (oh but will he?!). Im just kidding about the book picking up here but not about the VS trip unfortunately.
Most of the book is a snore fest but I had nothing better to do as I folded laundry, made dinner and then cleaned the kitty boxes. The narrator does a fine job of bringing these characters to life and I could clearly discern one from another. The problem lies in the fact that I didnt like any of the characters and that Ever grates on my last nerve. She is shallow, insecure, annoying, unkind in her thoughts toward others (Ava especially), a wee bit pathetic and very ugly on the inside. Its only towards the end of the story that I actually started to warm up to her and then she goes and does something so idiotic Im back at square one again. Sigh. But it allow the big question of Will they ever really do it? to be strung out for several more books. If my teen daughter smuggles this series into the house to read I am going to lecture her on never, ever acting like an Ever.

A mom review: The Immortals series is definitely a teen read. And can not be put in the same literary class as Twilight. And though none of the books contain sex it contains heavy reference to the main characters pursuits of it. I would allow my teen to read this before the Vampire Academy or House of night series which though better written contain sex in every book to include sex with adults/teachers.

Once again I looove this series! So different and original--not at all like Twilight! This is of course, book 2 and I do say you need to read one first in order to know what is going on. Would've liked more info on Ramon though, hopefully we will find out more information on him in Summerland, the 3rd installment. 2 Thumbs Up!!! This is going on my keeper shelf!
