Chris Astor is a forty-year-old divorced father of one - a daughter named Becky who has gone through much in her young life. Now, as Becky faces more obstacles, something strange happens.

Miea is the young queen of a fantasy land that Becky and her father created when Becky was little, a land that finds itself in horrific, even deadly trouble. Together, the three must uncover the secret that has brought them into contact. The secret to the future, to their purpose, lies in their imagination.

I enjoyed this book very much. It was very moving and a book that I will enjoy having on my bookshelves. I tend to cry a lot at touching books and that is what happened as I read this book. I give it an A!

When I accepted "Blue" for review, I was a little concerned it would be too sad of a story due to one of the main characters being sick. Sad stories really aren't my cup of tea and I rarely make it a point to read them. Aronica didn't dwell on Becky's illness; he used it as a platform for a plot that was more than enthralling.

"Blue" centers around Becky's father, Chris, and his longing to spend time with his daughter. They had been very close until divorce rocked the family dynamic and changed them all forever. While Becky was terribly ill as a child, they created a fantasy world called Tamarisk. Every element in this fantasy kingdom was created by Becky and her father. After the divorce, Becky didn't wish to continue telling the story. Over time she becomes ill again and she realizes that the world she created is real. Not only does Tamarisk exist, but the people in the kingdom need her as much as she will need them.

Aronica spent six years working on "Blue," creating a heartbreaking fantasy that is the perfect blend of two worlds. The characters are a glowing example of Lou's hard work and creativity. The chemistry between Chris and Becky was distant in the beginning and blossomed as they reconnected, adding the perfect balance to her deteriorating condition. The mother was too annoying and negative for me. I thought she was a heartless witch. There's no other way to describe her.

Tamarisk was a magical kingdom that pulsed with joy and magic. The animals created by the father/daughter duo were unlike anything I've come across in other fantasy worlds. The use of musical instruments as animal sounds was fascinating.

"Blue" is definitely one of those books that everyone should find a moment to read. The reality of Becky's illness and the love of her father are more than realistic. If you haven't read "Blue," you need to and I promise you won't regret that you did.

Chris Astor is a lonely man. He had a beautiful family, a good job and life was good, even as they struggled with his young daughter Becky's leukemia. But the struggle had a cost; his marriage. Now, he see's his daughter, who has been in remission awhile, sparingly. Since she is a young teenager, she really doesn't want to hang out with ole dad.

But Becky feels that her dad has given up on her; the divorce affected her life too. And she thinks she may be getting sick again too. When she was younger, Chris and her used to spend their time telling about a far away fantasy land, Tamarisk.

When Becky falls asleep one day and wakes up in another world, the world of Tamarisk, she cannot believe it. The land she and her dad created is real, merging with her own. How could that happen?

But it's not all roses and sunshine in Tamarisk. Years ago, there was a blight upon the beautiful land, but it eventually went away. Now, a disease is eating all of the lovely flora, and Queen Miea is really concerned. Will this be the end of their world? Will she be able to find a cure? And will Becky ever return to their world or did she give up on them forever? Queen Miea, Becky and Chris (who is elated to be back in his daughter's life) must find out the secret of why their worlds have collided and their future.

Blue is a compelling fantasy novel that will tug on your heart strings and fill your eyes and heart with wonder. Beautifully written, the worlds just come to life in vivid color in your mind, and the hope and magic will keep you up late into the night turning the pages. Well executed, engaging and with characters you can't help but love, Blue is a must read!! I absolutely loved it!!

I know this book got great reviews but I myself had trouble getting into the majic of story the Chris and Becky invented. I guess I related more to the mom, Polly who had trouble with this mystical place also. I got it done though and I guess maybe for a younger person they might really enjoy this book.
