Very enjoyable mystery and fast paced. Kind of an "old school mystery"- a set of family members and their elderly aunt at a lodge in the woods and someone kills the nasty old lady. Plenty of suspects and motives along with some secrets and assaults on others along the way. I liked it.

note: I did, however, find it a bit far fetched that the cop investigating welcomed assistance from a teacher with no police training! (but it's fiction so I guess it's ok!)

I really enjoyed this first book in this series. Characters are well done.. and it was so refreshing to find that the heroine is not a meek and reckless woman who plunders ahead without caution. She was mature and very likable. This is very well written mystery and the setting at the lake was very enjoyable.

This was great fun to read. Has a few of the elements of a traditional Mary Roberts Rinehart kind of mystery--not as Nancy Drew-ish as some cozys. I liked that. Lots of suspects, but not so many that you need a scorecard. Another reviewer mentioned the fact that the police detective let a teacher meddle in the case. This was handled well by the author in my opinion.
