I enjoyed this book immensely. The victim was a member of a group of mystery fans. The detective is fat, underappreciated, head of Bath's murder squad. It has everything I like, police proceedural, mystery readers, humor, great plot. I'm looking for more.

Interesting murder mystery based around a book club.
This a typical Peter Diamond novel - tightly written and clever to the end.
The Peter Lovesey mysteries are always a great read, and this one centers around a msytery book group that is somehow invoved with the crime at hand. Very crafty and thoroughly enjoyable during a very long, snow-delayed airplane ride.
Peter Diamond is back on the force, but things have changed somewhat. Especially when, to his surprise, the best detective working for him turns out to be a female.
While I didn't like this one as much as I did the first three in the series, that doesn't mean it isn't good. This is because I thought the first three were extremely good, and I'm in the process of getting them all. Peter Lovesey has a great talent.
