Very good book. Would recommend any Virginia Lanier book. Too bad she died before she wrote very many of them.

Jo Beth Sidden trains bloodhounds for a living & occasionally takes on a tracking assignment such as hunting down a sweet old lady who has wandered off into the Okefenokee Swamp. Unfortunately, wily prison escapee Jimmy Joe Lane has decided that he and Jo Beth are the perfect match and his adoring kinfolk support their good ole boy's delusions.
Suddenly Jo Beth has serious man-trouble, on top of a series of bizarre deaths that are further complicating her life. But when Jimmy Joe threatens her favorite hound, Jo Beth really sees red. Before he harms one hair on Bobbie Lee's head, she swears she'll bring the crazed criminal to justice--along with his whole twisted family if necessary. Or she'll die trying!
Another excellent read by Virginia Lanier.

I'm very fond of "dog mysteries" and I think this is an excellent series - Virginia Lanier didn't start writing till "retirement age" and she only wrote half a dozen books before she died.
Ho Boy, I really enjoyed this series, up till now. And I feel pretty lousy speaking ill of a book now that the author is dead, but this was, for me, a slap together, let's get this finished and out there, last book. I had read mixed reviews, but just had to have this one anyway, but oh, I was so glad it came from the bargain table!
Last of the bloodhound mystery series
