I loved the destruction of old Mac in this book. While I mourned the loss of her sweet innocence the same way that she did, the fact that the new Mac is a bit (more than a bit) on the dark side and very much kick ass, was delightful to me.
The author writes her emotions in a way that I felt every pang of guilt Mac did and all the frustrations at Barrons's evasiveness.
This book wraps you up from the first page and transports you to a place you probably would never want to be but you can't seem to look away from. I highly recommend this series and I just can't wait to read the third installment.

This is an excellent continuation of Darkfever. The Fever series is a new paranormal mystery thriller by KM Moning and with each book she gradually reveals clues about what is happening in the world and who Jericho Barrons really is. Mac grows as person although she is still a reluctant heroine. It's highly detailed and the research put into it is immense! Moning doesn't hand you answers on a silver platter; she makes you work for them with clues hidden in what would first appear to be a casual comment or observation...
The reason I think the books aren't being released into the system is readers are hanging on to them to re-read and study along with readers on her forum.

Bloodfever is the second installment of the Fever series. I have not included any spoilers but there might be a few from the first installment, Darkfever.
The Lord Master is freeing the darkest enemies imaginable. He is letting them roam free among humanity. MacKayla can see these creatures and with Jericho Barrons help they must discover how to close the portal. Since the first installment of the Fever series, MacKayla has grown and matured a lot. She is still coping with the death of her sister but that only fuels her passion for stopping the Lord Master. We still see a glimpse of the old MacKayla with her dreams of having a normal life with lots of pretty rainbows but now she has some harsher edges which helps her in the end.
Jericho and MacKayla are still hunting for Fae artifacts. She has started to get use to Jerichos way of working but at times she still is very frustrated. The pull between the two of them is very palpable and we are always on the edge wondering if they will take the next step with each other. MacKayla comes upon others that are like her and now she sees that she has other options then Jericho. Seeds of doubt are placed in her mind from both sides leaving her conflicted. Should she continue her allegiance to Jericho or set out on a new path to learn more of what powers she possesses.
Another blow against MacKayla, she has learned that her sisters ex-boyfriend and murderer, Malluce, is still alive (or as alive as one could be in his state). I have totally fallen into the Fever world. This book deserves it's 5 rating, and I enjoyed it more than Darkfever. It makes me want to call in sick (even though I have never done that) and read at read lights, I know it's a keeper. I LOVE the Fever series. Some complain about it not being long enough, I felt it was book worthy, and it's part of a real series, so of course it's going to give you cliffhangers. It gets done EVERY week on the T.V. shows we watch, right? Well, same, but not here! Ms. Moning has created this awesome series that packs adventure, good vs. evil and a girl who is learning that the world wasn't as "peachy" as she thought it once was. Add Jericho Barrons in the mix and you have one heck of a story. I am not going to spoil, but I will have to say that I finally got more than a little tension and wordplay between Barrons and Mac! I am going to try to read the Highlander series and delay the next book, Faefever so that my wait for Dreamfever won't be so long, but I don't know if I'll really be able to do that. I can recommend this series highly, even though it's not about the romance but the journey!

Great fast paced read. McKayla Lane was just a normal girl thrown into the supernatural world after the mysterious death of her sister. In this second book, Mac's experiences have forced her to suffer her old self and push forward thinking exploring her newfound senses. I love how this book has philosophy incorporated into it. Most of these paranormal romance novels really miss some key points. This book deconstructs human behavior and positive thinking in such a great way and still keep the fictional story written well. What I loved best about this book was the clashing and tension between Mac and Jericho Barrons. Finally sex. Nail biting and exciting. I'm wishing for more.

I've had these books for awhile and I am currently on the 3rd book in the series w/in 48 hrs. I don't know why I've let them sit so long. The mythology and lore is amazing. The chemistry and mystery of Barrons is so intriquing. I love this series. I easily give it 4 stars.

Like the previous book this one finds Mac floundering, trying desperately to understand and get some control of what's going on in Dublin. The mysteries surrounding her sister's death continue to absorb her, the police continue dogging her, Barrons continues to puzzle and thwart her and the OOPs collectors get more and more dangerous. And the danger snaps at her heels (and often has her by the throat) throughout the pages. I found the book to be fast-paced, gripping and nearly impossible to put down. I can't say all the main characters are likable but they do seem to get progressively more intriguing. This second book definitely made me eager for the next installment.

Ok, so, I was reading this book, and I just kind of got bored. The overall storyline of the series is great, but this book kind of seemed like a filler to me. In this book, Mac is continuing her search for the Sinsar Dubh, with Barrons' help, but the book just kind of seems all over the place to me. It doesn't really have a solid plot line, which kind of turned me off of the book. I did end up finishing it, and towards the end, I really started to get into it.
In this book we learn a little more about several of the characters that had been presented in the last book, including Jericho Barrons. We also learn a bit more about Rowena, and get to meet a new character named Dani. We see whether or not Malluce is really dead, and the Lord Master makes another appearance, so does V'lane. So, it's continuing the story, but it's just kind of filling the gap.
Now, as I mentioned there are some tasty tidbits that happen at the end, and I'm not going to give any of it away, so, you'll just have to read it. I'm definitely going to continue the series as certain things that happened at the end have my interest piqued. I guess we'll just have to see where Ms. Moning is going to take us.

Book 2 in the Fever Series. I started this series because of the recent hype surrounding it AND because I loved the author's Highlander series. However, I continue to be a little disappointed because I thought this series was promoted as paranormal romance. Well, it's definitely paranormal: the characters are wonderful and the story is unique and captivating. But there continues to be very little romance or sex. I love the plot arcs and the characters but I was looking for a little love story too. Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself....there is definitely some sexual tension building. Therefore, I will continue to be patient and wait for the character's relationships to develop and in the meantime enjoy a good book. It's definitely a page turner!

Loved this book!! Mac seems to have grown up, we get a juicy appearance by V'lane, and of course, Barrons is trying hard not to appreciate that Mac is a woman. Couldn't wait for it at PBS, had to order it, and im so glad I did. If you liked the first book, you should like this one, and it has me salivating for Faefever!!!

Loved it. She just keeps you guessing. Now we have another new player that I cant't wait to read more about, Christian MacKeltar. Sounds yumy. Maybe create a little green eyed monster for Jerico?
Loving this series, only downside is that I don't have the 3rd or 4th one on had to continue reading it. Mac is becoming a great character for me. She is growing up and finding away to take control her life ~ well as much as she can given the circumstances she is in. She still pines for her old life and craves light and color, but she has become more accepting of place fate has put her in.

This is really an AWESOME series. If you are debating ab out getting it stop debating and dive in I really don't think you will be sorry. Love the characters they are not overwhelming, she does not add 52 new people to every chapter and keeps her main characters wrapped in mystery. You learn something new about them in every book makes you feel like you are right there with Mac discovering things GREAT READING! This is the first series I have gone to bed thinking about the characters and what they were feeling and woke up with them on my mind GREAT SERIES Love that it was simply 5 books too. Sometimes it just nice to end a story line and leave our imaginations to wander thanks Karen!
WOW there is hardly ever a book that captivates me so much it becomes a 24 hour readathon. LOL but this one not only held my attention it's characters charmed me in a way that mesmerized my spirit. A decadent mysterious read to remove me from the stress factors of todays world. I look forward to the next in the series.

This book was an enjoyable read; I liked it a little better than the first book. Mac is finally growing a backbone and we meet some new interesting characters.
Mac is settling into her strange life in Dublin. She is running the bookshop for Barron now and still trying to dodge the creeps that were out to kill her in the first book. Barron is still trying to get her to track down the Sinsar Dubh and she is still having little success. In this book she has a lot more run ins with the Seelie Prince, V'lane and meets the Grand Mistress of Sidhe Seers. The mystery behind Barron's origins deepens. Meanwhile crime and violence in Dublin is growing as the Unseelie population grows; it will be up to Mac and Barron to stop it.
This was a good follow up book to Darkfever. This is one of those series where it is hard to review the books separately because what happens in the current book is so tied to the previous book and to future books. Mac learns a lot more about her Seer powers in this novel. She also spends a lot of time running from monsters. Barron remains mysterious, although him and Mac do start building some chemistry together.
The action in this book is pretty much non-stop. Mac is flung from one desperate situation to another. The plot gets more complex and the world is filled out even more. The writing is easy to read and the book is hard to put down. We are introduced to loads of Unseelie too.
Some interesting characters are introduced in Rowena, the Grand Mistress of Sidhe Seers, and in the guy from Trinity college. Barron's character gains more dimension and we are given some small tantalizing glimpses into his past; but he still remains quite the mystery. Mac grows enormously as a character. Gone is the Barbie doll, in its place is a girl with tenacity and courage that is tougher than we ever thought she could be. Mac tries to be herself though and we are still given detailed descriptions on her attempts to dress cheery.
I was a bit frustrated that the story didn't progress more. One tiny thing in the plot is resolved in this book but the rest is left open. Most of the plot points in the book are just made more complex. The book again ends with a huge cliff hanger. There were many things that I wish this novel included. I wish there was more description of and names given for all the Unseelie encountered. I wish we learned more about Barron. Where are all the Seelie? You would think with all the Unseelie roaming about there would be more Seelie about than just V'lane. In some ways I just wish this was a more complete story.

This is the second book Karen Moning has written about the Fae and Dublin Ireland. I thought this story was "darker" and more brutal and violent than the first, but tomorrow I will call my local library to see if they have the 3rd book so I can read what happens. Moning keeps many of her story lines a secret, so there are still mysteries and people to unravel and at least one more book (4th) from this series coming out this year.
Bloodfever is the second book in a 5 book series. Like the first one it is written in the first person. I love that. Mac is having a conversation with me, and sharing her life in

Awesome!! This book was great! I love how the old, pink, prissy and weak Mac sheds her skin to become the darker, stronger and harder girl in this book. I really like the chemistry/sexual tension between her and Barrons, it fits well together. I CANT wait to read the next one, this is def a series that will be added to my library!
Don't Look For Her Highlander Template!! It isn't here. There is no sex, at least not with a partner. There is no real romance, just a bit of flirting. No happily ever after...

I've never read Karen Moning before and when I was given the first of her Fever series I was hooked! Bloodfever was even better than the first and the book was so good I couldn't wait to go out and get the next. Very good read! I recommend it highly.
Beginning a new series with a new author is always a gamble, the MacKaylaa Lane series is worth the risk! I was pulled into the story from book one!

I love this series, I love this book, and I can't wait for the next one to arrive in December. This is a keeper and I don't think I will post this book; there are certain books that I re-read and I think this is one of them so it won't be leaving my library!

If you are like me, and stalled after the first book, definitely pick up the second. You will not regret it. This story keeps getting better and better, and sinks its hook into you until you are helpless to stop yourself from getting the next volume :)

This was an interesting addition to the Fever series. In this book we see that Mac maturing and becoming more comfortable in her new life. For every new piece of information Mac gains, more questions arise. What is Barron? Can V'lane be trusted? I liked seeing how the MacKelters from previous books are linked into this story. I can't wait to found out what happens to Mac next. There weren't enough answers given in this book for me to actually give it 4 stars though.
Wasn't too impressed with the first book but a friend had given me this and darkfever to read so I did. I found this one easier to read and thought that not only did the characters start to mature but the writing was a bit better as well. Still not one of my favorite series but I will read the rest to find out what happens. It feels like one of those series that I like better the further I get into it.

I am absolutely loving this series! Can't wait for Faefever! Make sure you read Darkfever before this one!
GREAT new series by Moning. Heroine, Mac, is feisty and determined and also has much more backbone than some of Moning's other heroines. Modernly set; a twist from her usual medieval background. Also includes more faerie lore, displaying the "vicious" side Moning's Highlander series acknowledges but never reveals. Series does have a romantic-ish thread, but is not, essentially, a "romance", as the Highlander series could be described. The Fever series is altogether hot, sassy, and enthralling, with a compelling (and more or less believable) heroine and an interesting story.
Another great book in the fever series. I enjoyed darkfever, but blood fever is even better!
I started the first book (Darkfever) on a thursday and by sunday - I had read the first 3 books in the series. The story blends action, back story and celtic myths and history in a well paced and planned story. The action was nonstop and once the book was over, I needed to start the next and the next to know what happens. Mac is a great character that grows throughout the series - Her male protagonists are great (I want to know more about the mysterious Jericho Barrons and the fae prince, V'Lane). I have to get my hands on the next one ASAP. I highly recommend this series, you won't be able to put it down.
I devoured this book over two days. It was that good. It's as good as Darkfever, the first book in the series. If you haven't read the first book, you're going to be lost. Bloodfever isn't the book you should start reading if you want to get into this series. In Bloodfever, we see a Mackayla who isn't as naive. The pretty blonde southern Barbie doll she was once was is disappearing. She's maturing. Her sidh-seer abilities are stronger. She's also more willing to do things she wouldn't have in the past. Mac is realizing that various entities (Barrons, V'lane, other sidh-seers) want her help, but they are not all trustworthy and they have their own secret motivations for why they need her help.
My only complaint is I wish we knew more about Barrons, but he is still engimatic as ever although you can see a thawing of his arrogant icy demeanor.
This is not paranormal romance. If you pick this up thinking it's going to have a lot of steamy scenes or pretty words between the hero and heroine, you're going to be disappointed. There is sexual tension, but this is primarily a fabulous paranormal fantasy series with strong roots in Celtic mythology. I love the Fever series. I dislike the fact the author has a cliffhanger in each book, but it does make me crave the next book to come.

Whether you read this as the second in the series or if you are new to this series, this book is great! It has excellent stand alone qualities but flows extremely well with the series. Even the Mac can tend to be a little annoying, the development and maturing of her character is riveting - not to mention the budding something that she has with Barrons - though it's hard to say exactly what.....

This series is moving right along! I broke into with abandon! There are high points and low points but lots of action in the fight to keep the walls up between realms. There were times when I wanted to reach right through the page and strangle Mac and times when I cheered for her. The tension between Mac and Barrons is tangible. Then V'lane seems to be interested in more than a OOP detector too. I hope someone acts on all this tension soon!

Fun series for anyone who loves fantasy. A very interesting new take on the world of vampires and other supernatural beings.
This entire series is amazing. It gives such a vivid picture that keeps you on the edge of your seat and flipping the pages.Each character are likeable but each have issues of their own all at the same time.
I love Karen Moning and this book is excellent!

I am really enjoying this series.
Alternate life forms living in an "alternate" world unknown for the most part to us humans: if this is your cup of tea, start with the "fever" book #1 and read all 5. I'm thru 3 and #4 is on it's way to me .. .can't wait. You've got to keep an open mind when reading the series. It can be confusing at first. This is why you must start at book #1 as it helps you understand what is going on.

This book was excellent! I thoroughly enjoyed it, so much so that I went out and got the third one, Faefever immediately.
Much better than the first book. I am glad I took a chance and kep reading.
This was a good story, but I kept waiting for the romance. I guess there was some subtle hints at romance, but the love story must be in the next book.
