Ever since assisting the venators in tracking down and killing a rogue vampire, Major Ursula Carlson has partnered with them to prove to the military that most vampires are decent people and willing to do their part to help keep the country safe. When she discovers some very disturbing news about the Army's plans for their vampire "armies," Ursula goes AWOL to warn the Vampire Praetorium of the danger to come.

Now Ursula has paired up with Solomon, one of the venators, and one of the few of his kinds she trusts implicitly. They must work together with Ursula's new friends to protect the vampires. If they don't succeed, every single one of the vampires will be slaughtered out of fear and ignorance.

In Blood Seduction, the sequel to Blood Lust, we have Army Major Ursula Carlson and Solomon's story. Ursula's opinions of vampires have changed drastically since getting involved in the hunt for rogue Charles (see Blood Lust) and while she doesn't trust their kind as a rule, she has learned there are many good souls in their race. She certainly never expected to see the day she'd put everything she believes in and her long upstanding career in the Army on the line to protect them. That's exactly what she does though. Ursula has a strong moral code in spite of (or maybe because of) her life growing up and she will always stand against what she believes is wrong. This very thing is the catalyst for all that is to follow in Blood Seduction.

Solomon is an intriguing mystery and I've loved him since I met him. So has Ursula, though it took her a while to understand and accept this. Solomon has a long involved and very deep history that I thoroughly enjoyed discovering alongside of Ursula. He became even more enthralling the more we learned. Solomon is the perfect complement to Ursula with his deep abiding and quiet loyalty.

One especially fascinating aspect of the vampire world created by JM Jeffries is the talents each vampire has. Every vampire has one special gift that comes with the change, though it takes a few centuries to manifest itself. For example, Mignon's ability is to defy gravity making her able to literally walk upside down on ceilings. Solomon's ability makes him a daywalker, able to withstand the sun except the few hours midday when the sun is at its peak. This one detail helps to set this vampire world apart form the ordinary found in romance novels.

JM Jeffries is able to bring humor into even the darkest of times. Ursula has a very dark and twisted sense of humor that is her outlet for intense stress. This causes some amusing scenes where she just can't control her tongue, often offending other characters, but always bringing levity to the moment.

Blood Seduction tells a passionate story, though sometimes quite dark, as was Blood Lust, that will suck you in. We are even given more of a glimpse into a couple other favorite characters of mine, Max and Elder Turi. I can only hope this means Max's story is coming soon? And maybe a story for Elder Turi as well? I would love to spend more time in the world JM Jeffries has built!
