Fictional account of Dianna killing Charles. A curve near the end I didn't see coming - but should have.

Suppose Princess Diana, instead of divorcing her Prince Not-So-Charming, had taken an antique pistol and blown a large hole in him? That's the premise to this Harold Robbins novel, finished after his death by Junius Podrug. Unfortunately, it's poorly written and ends with a conclusion even more unlikely than the setup.
